Mickey is finally finished! His hat is complete, and it only took me about 3500 pieces to find all of it!

According to my count there are 507 pieces left to go, so depending on how I’m feeling and how much time I am able to spend on it it should be done in the next 2 days, 3 if things aren’t going well. The end is in sight!

There is a little bit of black left on the rock that Mickey is standing on, and the rest of the pieces are all blues, greys and white. The fun part about coming to the end of the section is that with each piece you find things go faster and faster. It gets exciting!

I was only able to put around 100 pieces in the puzzle today. I feel awful, felt awful all day but I did make some progress.

The top of the section is complete, not quite the top half but I’m getting close. Going to try to keep going with the filling in before I flip it around on the table and start working on the bottom half. It’s starting to look quite good in the pictures, which I don’t always see when I’m working on it. I see only close up on the pieces and it usually surprises me when I see the picture how much different it looks. You really can’t tell the size in the picture, but each section is 4 1/2 feet across so the details get lost and you don’t always see it when you’re working close to it. Then you take a picture and can see the puzzle as a whole and it looks completely different.

Hopefully I will be feeling better tomorrow and will be able to work on the puzzle a little bit more.

So today I got all of the remaining pieces put on trays separated by shapes, and I’m working on filling in the rest of the puzzle. Trying to fill in the entire right side so that filling in the left side will be much easier, I’ll know what piece shape I’m looking for.

It was difficult working on the puzzle today without good lighting. Although it looks like lots got done it wasn’t as much progress as I would have liked. It’s alright though, I’m down to under 1000 pieces and things are still moving along!

My mom asked me today if I thought that I’d be out of sorts after I’m finished, feeling let down because the project would be over with. I can’t say for sure, but I probably will be a little let down. Although I have PLENTY of puzzles to catch up on once this puzzle is finished. At my house I probably have at least a year’s worth of puzzles to do, and at my mom’s house are probably 3 or 4 more years worth of puzzles to be done. But we aren’t addicted, we can quit anytime we want! 😉

Wasgij #11 Beauty Salon by Graham Thompson – Jumbo – 1000 pieces

Another puzzle I won’t show the whole picture of, I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who hasn’t done the puzzle yet, or might want to buy it. It’s more fun to figure it out yourself!

I absolutely love the quality of Jumbo puzzles, the waxy feel of the pieces, the matte finish, the way the pieces fit together, everything!! They’re one of the best there is, in my opinion. I still have a stack of Wasgij puzzles in my closet, about 5 feet high that still need to be assembled. I’ll get back to my regular puzzles when I’m done with the giant Disney puzzle I’m working on, and the Wasgij’s will most likely be the first ones I’m heading for.

The Beauty Salon was a fun puzzle to assemble, I love the artwork and humor of Graham Thompson. His puzzles always have so much detail in them, and there is always something funny in the background as well as the foreground. This was just a great puzzle overall – great artwork, great quality, great fun!!

Got a bit done today, then my overhead light died. 😦 And let me tell ya, good lighting is super important! I tried to keep working on it, but all the pieces just looked like blobs of color and it wasn’t going well at all. Hubby worked 12 hours today so I’m not asking him to do anything till he catches up on some sleep. I have a small stand alone light I can use till we fix the overhead.

Tomorrow I have errands to run, but hopefully I’ll be able to sit or stand for a while to work on the puzzle and try to finish the water/foamy pieces. It’s going really well, I’m quite pleased. I think I’ll work on the dark pieces next, and by then I’ll be down to less than 1000 pieces to go in this section!

A reader commented today that they are also working on this puzzle, they are in Belgium and have completed a section already (The Lion King). I was so glad to hear from someone else who is taking on this insane challenge! And all the way over in Belgium, how cool is that?

I started this blog for family and friends to keep up with my progress and I’m blown away by how many people from all over the world have checked out my site and some are even following the blog every day. In internet terms this is just a piddly little site with barely any followers or readers, but it means a lot to me and I’m glad for every single person who reads it. Thanks everybody! 🙂
