No progress today. Spent the morning preparing for Hurricane Matthew to barrel into us, and the afternoon recovering. I hope everyone in Matthew’s path is able to stay safe. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do any puzzling for a few days until our unexpected guest leaves town. Be safe everyone.

Not much progress again today, but I did what I could. Snow White got most of her face and the rest of her dress, Prince Charming’s tunic was filled out along with some of the sky/background behind him. Over on the right side halfway up are Happy’s blue pants, and on the left side most of the turtle is complete and attached to the filmstrip. The greenish blob above the turtle is actually two green hats, I believe they belong to Bashful and Sleepy – but don’t quote me on that one. It doesn’t seem like much when you look at yesterday’s picture, but as long as I’m able to do a little bit every day I’m satisfied.
Having this blog helps to keep me motivated, because I don’t want to have no progress to report. It doesn’t matter if only my mom is reading my updates, I want to have something to show at the end of the day. Being able to attach that turtle to the filmstrip made me VERY happy. I’m always glad to be able to connect sections together; that always seems like excellent progress in my eyes!
I did spend a lot of time resting in bed today, so I decided to add a page to the blog of all the jigsaws I’ve completed this year with comments. I was able to get January – Â March completed, and part of April. It may take a while to catch up, but it’s fun to look back at what I’ve accomplished this year (at least the ones I remembered to take pictures of). There are plenty of thrift store purchases, along with puzzles bought new. If you’re bored and want to see what jigsaws I’ve gotten through so far, the links for the pages are on the top of the header.

Not a good puzzling day for me 😦  I was really hurting and unable to sit or stand to work on the puzzle for more than a few minutes at a time. I was able to finish the filmstrip though, and a little bit more. I moved everything approximately where it belongs in the puzzle, and it’s starting to look like the scene in the picture!

I added some blue to Snow White’s sleeves, and was able to lay in bed with a few trays of blue pieces and put together most of the four bluebirds, they’re so cute!

Still plenty of holes in the filmstrip, but everything I had pulled was put together, yay! The 4th bluebird is hanging on the edge.
I didn’t work on the puzzle as much as I would have liked today, but I’m certain there will be better days when I’ll be able to put in some serious puzzle time. It’ll be a long haul regardless, so best to just relax and enjoy whatever I am able to accomplish.
I was overwhelmed by the puzzle at first, 4000 pieces is a whole lot! The largest puzzle I have ever completed prior to starting this one is a 2000 piece Ravensburger. I have in my pile of puzzles to be done several 3000 and 4000 piece puzzles, but they are still boxed up and waiting for me to get to them. Why I decided to jump from 2000 to 40,000 pieces I do not know, but I know I can do it. I seem to be settling down and getting used to the size of this section, and am no longer intimidated. Every piece I add is one piece closer to finishing!
I’m enjoying this blog as well, more than I thought I would. It’s nice to be able to “talk” about my progress and post pictures, without having to force friends and family to look at pictures on my phone and listen to me yap about it. This way, if they want to see how it’s coming along they can check it out on their own time, no pressure from me. I hope you are enjoying my puzzle exploits too! And a great big thanks to my son-in-law for setting up the blog for me, you are very much appreciated!

Got lots accomplished today! Made a huge dent in the filmstrip; there is still much to do but it’s taking shape and looking awesome. I know what the dimensions of this section of the puzzle are supposed to be, but knowing it and seeing it are two different things. 😮 Putting the filmstrips approximately where they belong in the puzzle made me realize what a GIANT task I have set for myself!

I’ll have to put something on the board with tomorrow’s picture for scale, so that the size is easier to see.

In addition, I started and finished the 300 piece Dowdle puzzle from the thrift store. Not bad quality, loose fitting, but very sturdy pieces. This was the first Dowdle brand puzzle I’ve worked, and I enjoyed both the artwork and the quality – and it was very nice to complete an entire puzzle! I will definitely need to continue working other smaller puzzles while working on the Disney. It’s helpful to take a break and walk away when I’m feeling stuck and can’t seem to find pieces I’m looking for. It was nice today to go sit down and work on an easy puzzle that didn’t take too much concentration.

I’m hoping to have the filmstrip finished tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll be feeling well enough to sit for longer than 5-10 minutes at a time. I may start another secondhand puzzle as well! We have found our 2nd “Talking Jigsaw Puzzle” by Buffalo Games at a local thrift store. My husband and I had a really good time with the first one – The Fitness Center; and I may start working The Office Building tomorrow. It’s an interesting twist, like a logic puzzle within a jigsaw puzzle. Like a Wasgij or What If puzzle, the picture on the box is not the picture you puzzle; you have to figure out by what the people in the picture are saying where they fit in the puzzle. With The Office Building, you have to find out what floor and room each of the windows belongs to. It’ll be a nice distraction.

Spent most of the day hanging out with mom at her house, so there wasn’t as much time as usual for puzzling. Â Started first with the purple pieces, Dopey’s hat. Â There weren’t many and it didn’t take much time. Â It’s starting to actually look like him!

Next I decided to work on the film strip which borders two sides of this section. Laid out all the pieces, oh my! Talk about intimidating!!

Spent the rest of the time piecing together what I could. Â It’s difficult sometimes to focus and just look specifically for one piece. As I’m searching I see a part of something else I need, and I’m off on a tangent, forgetting what I was looking for in the first place.
I must say I was pleased to find that the scenes in the film strips are extremely sharp and detailed.  I wasn’t sure how big each scene would be, or how clearly it could be seen. Of course, it’s a Ravensburger puzzle – the very best quality – and my favorite brand.  I shouldn’t have worried.  It is a looser fit than I’m used to with Ravensburger, and the piece shapes are slightly different. This is my first large piece count puzzle from them, so I’m assuming this is the norm for an extremely large puzzle.  Still excellent quality in my humble opinion. 🙂

Spent about 2 or 3 hours today on the filmstrips. Intimidating to be sure, but I’m up to the challenge. There is still plenty to go, but it’s a start. I’m thoroughly enjoying this puzzle, and plan on continuing to enjoy the experience, even if it takes me a year or more! Here’s today’s total progress.

My mom, queen of the thrift store finds, purchased a beautiful Dowdle Folk Art 300 piece puzzle a few days ago for 99 cents. I don’t normally do 300 pieces, but I love his artwork and am also looking forward to a quick puzzle and a sense of completion when it’s finished! Planning to start that one tomorrow. It’s going to be a while before I Â assemble all 4032 pieces in the Snow White image, so it’ll be lovely to actually finish something in the meantime. Hopefully all the pieces are there and I will post a picture when it’s complete.
