Spectacular Peacock

Spectacular Peacock by Aimee Stewart – Wentworth Wooden Puzzles – 240 pieces

This puzzle fit very nicely on the beside table in my hospital room, I need my puzzles! This stunningly beautiful puzzle was 240 pieces of boredom therapy; I loved taking my mind off of everything else going on, and being able to do something other than stare at the television. Is it too much to ask for the hospitals to have Netflix? LOL

I know now the reason that I went a little insane last year and purchased 30-some micro puzzles from Wentworth, along with a few of their “midsize” puzzles. I was going to need them in January for my hospital stay! Mom brought me a bunch of micro puzzles and 2 of the larger ones to keep my puzzle brain happy and engaged while I was laid up. Thanks Wentworth – I love them so much❣

This puzzle and the next 8 posts coming up are all from my week in the hospital. Two of them are larger (over 200 pieces), one is a 100 piece, and the remaining five are micro puzzles from 40-60 pieces. My apologies for having so many very small puzzles in a row, but I’ve almost completely used up my “bank” of puzzle posts, and will have to work to build it back up once I’ve completely recovered and am able to sit and puzzle again.

This Aimee Stewart puzzle is absolutely gorgeous, everyone who saw it exclaimed over it and how beautiful and unusual it was. Of course it’s beautiful, it’s an Aimee Stewart! The irregular edge and amazingly detailed image made this a bit of a challenge, but that was exactly what was needed to stave off the boredom that comes with being bed-ridden. Luckily puzzles can be done almost anywhere you can find a flat surface. 🙂

The whimsies included in this puzzle are as wonderfully detailed and beautiful as the puzzle itself. There are several peacocks, flowers, butterflies, and more. Gorgeous! Assembling the edge took a bit of time, but I loved every moment. Holding a wooden puzzle piece while contemplating it’s placement is almost as satisfying as the plunk when it falls into place. The entire assembly was a joy, and exactly what I needed. Aimee Stewart and Wentworth Puzzles to the rescue!

I know wooden puzzles aren’t for everyone, and the added price is a bit much for some. But I encourage every puzzler to treat themselves at least once to a wooden puzzle. There are some reasonably priced companies out there (check out my post on wooden puzzle companies and their products here), and maybe you could request a smaller, reasonably priced wooden puzzle for your birthday this year. Artifact has the best prices and a wonderful catalog to choose from starting at only $18, Liberty’s extra small puzzles are intricate and amazing (around 100 pieces) and start at $39, and Wentworth micro puzzles are deceptively simple looking but a fun challenge and start at only $12. They are puzzles you will want to do again and again, and end up being absolutely worth the additional price. You’re worth it – treat yourself! I’m planning on requesting some small Liberty puzzles for Mother’s Day this year. 😎

Review: The Christmas Library

The Christmas Library by Aimee Stewart – Ravensburger – 1000 pieces

Aimee Stewart and Ravensburger, always a fantastic combination! Her artwork is beautiful and colorful and ever entertaining, and her puzzles have never disappointed. 🙂

The Christmas Library made for excellent puzzling – I enjoyed every single piece. Having words to assemble always makes me happy, and the style of the vintage books, ornaments, and images was absolutely gorgeous! The quality was excellent, as usual. It’s very rare that I have any quality issues with Ravensburger. The pieces look and feel like a premium puzzle, and fit together like one too. An all around fantastic Christmas image!

I’ve never really been a Christmas puzzle person, most holiday puzzles are so similar that they don’t interest me much. This year though, I’ve been lucky enough to find a few puzzles that are outside the norm, and they’ve been quite fun to assemble. I’m putting this one in that group, it’s more of a collage and that’s more to my liking then the standard Santa and the tree puzzles.

Stay tuned, the next 3 days will be all Christmas puzzles that I’ve assembled this season; I enjoyed every one. (I can hardly believe I just wrote that! 😮 )

Vintage Travel Guides by Aimee Stewart – Ravensburger – 500 pieces

What’s not to love about this puzzle? It’s a collage with plenty of words to put together, it’s a Ravensburger, and the artist is Aimee Stewart – that’s like the trifecta of awesome!

Mom and I assembled this together on an afternoon visit and we absolutely loved it! The colors are beautiful and work together amazingly well, it’s just an all around excellent image for puzzling. I have yet to find an Aimee Stewart puzzle that I haven’t liked, and there are still many more I’d love to own and assemble. There’s a puzzle of hers that is very similar to this one called The Christmas Library; it shows shelves of vintage Christmas books, is 1000 pieces and is absolutely stunning! It’s in my pile of puzzles to be done and I’m planning on assembling it a little closer to the holidays, if I’m able to hold out that long. 😉

Ravensburger is my favorite puzzle manufacturer, and the quality was excellent as usual. The pieces feel wonderful and fit together satisfyingly, and the image reproduction is crisp and extremely detailed. Aimee Stewart and Ravensburger are a heavenly combination in my opinion, and I always look forward to and enjoy working her puzzles.💖

Glorious Vintage

Glorious Vintage by Aimee Stewart – Ravensburger – 1000 pieces

Another Aimee Stewart, cause it’s just gorgeous!  Ravensburger really is my favorite brand of puzzle. Always a pleasure with such wonderful feeling thick pieces and gorgeous colors.

This puzzle was way more difficult than I thought, and took me longer than the average 1000 piece.  Still, I’m stubborn as anything and the end result is beautiful. Aimee Stewart’s shelf puzzles are all just stunning, I believe I own them all and only have 1 left to assemble. To be honest, I didn’t really look closely at this one before I purchased it. I saw it was an Aimee Stewart shelf by Ravensburger, loved the colors and ordered it. When it arrived I was a little shocked that it was about wine, and shocked that I ordered a puzzle without knowing the subject of it!

Excellent quality pieces, and piece fit; just an all around fun puzzle to assemble even with the extra challenge of all the green areas.

World of Books

World of Books by Aimee Stewart – Ravensburger – 2000 pieces

Perhaps my favorite puzzle of the year so far;  gorgeous artwork by Aimee Stewart, not an overly difficult assembly, and 2000 pieces to keep me busy for a few days.

Aimee Stewart’s shelf puzzles for Ravensburger are just beautiful, I own them all and have completed almost every one. Her artwork is absolutely stunning and her use of colors just blows my mind.  She is one of my favorite puzzle artists.  In addition, the puzzle is a Ravensburger, my absolute favorite puzzle company.  Best quality out there in my opinion.

My daughter got this for me as a gift, what a sweetie! I can’t recommend this puzzle enough – beautiful, fun and exceptional quality.
