Kellogg’s Vintage – RoseArt – approx. 125/500 pieces

More of the vintage Kellogg’s mascots and boxes – how many of you knew that at one point the mascot for Honey Smacks (which used to be called Sugar Smacks and seems to have been altered for this puzzle) was a seal? I never knew that! A quick search tells me his name was Smaxey the Seal. I watched an old commercial with Smaxey on YouTube and, uh, it was something.

For me, the vintage image of Tony the Tiger is so odd looking with those eyes, I don’t ever recall seeing this version of him way back in the Cretaceous period when I was young. 🦖

Still, even though Tony’s eyes were freaking me out and I was completely in the dark about who the seal was, these puzzles were still entertaining to assemble and I enjoyed myself very much.

Anyone else out there tried these puzzle sets? Aren’t they great fun?

All the mascots have changed so much, it’s interesting to look back on where they started out. You probably can’t read it, but underneath Toucan Sam’s bowl it says “Real fruit flavor in a crystallized oat cereal”. That doesn’t sound very appetizing to me at all – crystallized? Ick. 🤮

If you haven’t tried any of these sets from RoseArt/Lafayette Puzzle Factory I highly recommend giving them a go. There are so many great sets out there and they are good quality. They aren’t premium quality puzzles, but they’re extremely entertaining and great for when you don’t have much time. The backs are color coded so that you can sort them easily and if you want you can grab a pile of pieces and a cup of coffee and complete an entire image. Love it!

After many months of zero puzzling I was too chicken to start with a larger puzzle right away upon my return; so I got one of my multipack puzzles out and worked on these 12 mini puzzles instead. You won’t be surprised to find out I had a great time assembling them – as usual.

It was so fascinating to see all the older mascots for Kellogg’s cereals. Quite a few of them I’d never seen before; and many of the older versions of the current mascots were just as entertaining to see. Vintage Tony the Tiger looks very odd to me. 🐯

Fireplace Cuddle – Karmin – 100 pieces

Such a sweet image! Perfect for my first day back at the puzzle board. It went together super quickly, and honestly, as I was putting it together I told myself “Hey, you’re still pretty good at this”. It was my very own little internal pep talk, and at the very least it made me smile.

I’m pretty sure that Penny was the one who sent me this puzzle, but I can’t be 100% positive. The memory definitely isn’t what it used to be, that’s for certain. Although, being that this is an image of a Boston Terrier puppy, it is almost doubtless that Penny sent it to me – we both have a deep and abiding love for Boston’s. ❤🐶

It might have been better to save this little puzzle for after my surgery, but I also needed a smaller one to get myself back into the swing of things to start recovering my puzzle mojo. No worries, there are PLENTY of smaller cardboard and wooden puzzles that have found their way to my puzzle room in the past week.

The PADS is severe and I self-medicated with a few online and in-person shopping sprees. 😇

I told hubby that this month I was spending a chunk of my disability money on a bunch of puzzles for myself. Being the awesome man that he is, he said “It’s about time you spent some on yourself.”

💕I love that man.💕

Kiki’s Delivery Service

Kiki’s Delivery Service – 126 pieces – Artcrystal Jigsaw?

If you’re wondering, the reason for the question mark after the brand of puzzle is because almost the entire box was written in Japanese, and the only English wording that looked like it might be a brand said Artcrystal Jigsaw. I’m hoping that’s the brand, but I can’t be certain without further information gathering – which I have to tell you I’m just feeling too lazy to do at the moment.

Worked on this with my oldest son and his girlfriend at her housewarming party at the new apartment. If you’re happy I’m finally back to puzzling you have my gently nagging puzzle buddy Penny and these two crazy kids to thank for having a small puzzle sitting on the table at the party that we could work on together. 😎

That’s my baby boy and his new girlfriend, and my hand is reaching in from the bottom left. It’s a tiny little plastic puzzle, but it’s sort of translucent, and wasn’t an easy assembly.

I think she’s planning on hanging it in one of the windows. If you ask me, it’ll be very pretty in the west window with the setting sun. ☀
