Back to the Board

My puzzle board is finally empty, and I’m once again able to work on bigger puzzles. There are several 1000 piece puzzles I’ve got in the to do pile that are larger than the average size and need my bigger board.

The board has been occupied by the Mystery Puzzle for a couple of months, and we were finally able to take it off and find a safe place to store it until we decide what we’re going to do with it. I’m looking forward to sitting at my big board again to puzzle!

Today I’m starting American Diner by White Mountain – bright colors and a great image by Steve Crisp – here’s hoping it’s going to be as entertaining as it looks!

Fluffy Mardi Gras

Fluffy Mardi Gras
Fluffy Mardi Gras – Ceaco – 300 pieces

Our fluffy friend showed a lot of fur yesterday during Mardi Gras; she lost a bit of her memory (see missing edge piece) and ended up with dazed look on her face and a LOT of beads! 😉

Cat puzzles aren’t really my thing, but I had to get this one from the thrift store because it’s just too funny. How can you not smile when you see this image? I love it!

*I bet kitty wasn’t too happy to be dressed up in all of that crap for the picture though.*

My Sweet Furbaby

Buddy
So sweet, but uh oh!

Look at my adorable boy, looking sad and snuggling my nightgown. This beautiful, mostly well-behaved little Buddy (sweetest dog ever) made a very sour mess yesterday. To be fair, he had a little help. My husband was playing with him, throwing a toy and accidentally threw it where my 2000 piece puzzle was on the floor. Buddy skidded into it in his excitement, and it went kablooey!

I didn’t get that upset, it wasn’t really his fault; it’s mine for having it on the floor in the first place. It’s been there for almost a month and no harm has come to it, but things happen. Buddy’s always been very well behaved and doesn’t chew things up or get into stuff he’s not supposed to, so I suppose I felt too comfortable leaving the big puzzle on the floor. Again, my fault, not his.

I’ve got other stuff stressing me out this week, and I think that’s the reason I’m not that upset about this. In the grand scheme of things a messed up puzzle isn’t really that big of a deal, there are plenty of other things that truly matter. I’m boxing it up, to be attempted another day; but I will get it put together eventually. It just won’t be now. 😕

Crafty – Re-marks – 1000 pieces

This was an extremely entertaining thrift store find! There were 2 missing pieces, but it didn’t detract much from the assembly. With all the bright colors and interesting patterns it kept me happy for a couple of days. 🙂

The quality was good, with an excellent fit. The pieces are a little thinner than your premium brands, but not nearly as thin and flexible as the cheapest ones. I never hesitate buying Re-marks puzzles, in my opinion they’re a good middle-of-the-road quality puzzle and they have some beautiful images to work. Everyone has their own preferences though, and the only real way to know is to try them yourself.

I loved assembling the basket of yarn, and made myself wait for that part until almost the very end.

Many times I try to hold off on what I think will be the most entertaining section until the end of the puzzle. I don’t want to get the best part done too early and then peter out with filling in the rest. I needn’t have worried with this one though, I had a great time with the whole thing!

The Wedding Shop

The Wedding Shop
The Wedding Shop by John O’Brien – FX Schmid – 300 pieces

This is the second time I have assembled this image. The first time it was named Rue L’Amour , was made by Cobble Hill, and was 500 pieces. The assembly was lovely both times, but I think I preferred the Cobble Hill only because it had more pieces and was a little more of a challenge.

They were both excellent quality puzzles. FX Schmid has (mostly) Ravensburger quality with a wonderful fit and beautiful image reproduction. I think this is the first 300 piece from this brand that I’ve worked, and it was quite nice. There was the slightest bit of warping on the pieces, but I live in the land of humidity so it’s difficult to say whether or not that played any part in it.

The Wedding Shop 1

John O’Brien really captures the dreamy quality of wedding gowns in a bridal shop in this image, it’s just beautiful.
