In honor of my spectacular mother – who gave me life, unlimited and unwavering unconditional love, treasured friendship, a love for jigsaw puzzles and so much more – I am holding this giveaway for Spectacular Peacock, a beautiful 240 piece shaped Wentworth Wooden Puzzle.

My mother and I loved to assemble puzzles together much more than we enjoyed assembling them on our own. Even though putting together a puzzle by yourself gives you some quiet reflective time to de-stress and relax, we enjoyed spending time together talking, laughing, and puzzling; we could spend entire days having the time of our lives with just a few puzzles and each other.

When I started treating myself to some wooden puzzles, she fell in love with them too; we would marvel over the intricate shapes, show each other when we made a connection, and discuss the fantastic quality. I will never forget the months we spent assembling the mystery puzzle box of vintage wooden puzzle pieces that I gave her for Christmas the year before she passed; she told me it was the best present she’d ever received in her life, and we both had the best time assembling that giant 100 year old puzzle and spending extra time with each other. They are cherished memories that will be with me the rest of my life. 💗

So,to bring a little more joy into my life this first Mother’s Day without her – and in honor of her love of Aimee Stewart images and wonderfully made wooden puzzles – I’m giving away this beautiful, gently used wooden jigsaw puzzle. It’s a little challenging, even at only 240 pieces; it’s shaped, so starting with the edges is more difficult than you might think, and it includes several beautiful whimsies of flowers, peacocks, and more. I adored assembling it (even though I was in the hospital at the time), and I hope the winner enjoys it just as much. They say if you want to feel better you should do something for others, and I think “they” might be right. When I made the decision to give this puzzle away for Mother’s Day to honor her I immediately started to smile just thinking about how happy it would make someone to win it. And it made me happy too!

    Beautiful puzzle, beautiful story. I lost my mother many years ago when I was 17. There’s always a hole in your heart but as time goes on the hole is filled with wonderful memories replacing the hurt. Very kind of you to share that special puzzle.

    Wow. What a beautiful story and puzzle. And so generous of you to give away such a special puzzle. I am very lucky to still have my momma in my life though I do not see her nearly as often as I would like. I appreciate and treasure her more and more with each passing year.

        For our 5th wedding anniversary on 2/2/2020, I gave my wife a wooden Artifact puzzle of Van Gogh’s “Undergrowth with Two Figures”. I’m not sure how to post a picture of it. We had a great time assembling it. There’s also a 2018 film called “Puzzle” which is about jigsaw puzzle competitions and some family drama.

    My mom is my best friend. Upon my encouragement during the pandemic she has started puzzling and we have been able to enjoy it together. I love reading your posts and am sorry for the loss of your mother.

    This is incredible generous of you! My mother is the person who got me started working puzzles when I was a child. We continued working them together when I was a teenager and young adult, until I married and moved out. I occasionally worked them while my kids were young, but started back about five years ago. Several months later, my dad became seriously ill and eventually passed away. Puzzles became my coping mechanism, taking my mind of my problems. During this pandemic, I haven’t been able to focus much on puzzles for some reason. I want to! However, my mom has picked the hobby back up, since she’s now stuck at home, alone. I have been providing her with a steady supply of my puzzles, but just wish we could work them together!

    1. I know what you mean about using puzzles to cope – I do it almost every day.

      Even if you and your mom can’t work puzzles together, at least she’s got a great supply line to keep her stocked up. 🙂

    My father was the one that taught me to love puzzles. I had not done many as an adult until my 2 kids were grown. When I set my sights on retiring, I started accumulating puzzles from thrift stores. 😂 I found my 1st wooden puzzle in a thrift store and was fascinated. They are amazing!

    Thank you for sharing stories of your mother and the great times you had together! I was never close to my mother and I have tried hard to not repeat that with my children. I recall great times with my Dad when you talk about your great relationship with your Mom. 💖

        That first wooden puzzle was the architect’s rendering of the new Stanford Hospital that opened in 2019. Not an exciting or beautiful picture, but I had never seen a wooden puzzle and it was only $5. Liberty Puzzle made this custom puzzle that was the gift in 2012 to the large donors for the project. This one was probably someone that doesn’t care about puzzles and the picture didn’t make it more exciting — except for me! Looking back, it was an awesome discovery!

    Such a wonderful post.Glad you had many lovely times with your mom when she was alive.
    My mom and I are close we talk almost everyday and I visit when I can.She sacrificed so much for us, she is a strong woman indeed.Love her to bits.
    I recently took up jigsaw puzzling and my kids are showing interest especially my daughter. Hoping to share many beautiful moments puzzling with them.

    Hi Stacey,
    What a beautiful way to remember your mum.
    My mother passed away 14 years ago next week and every year on the anniversary (and also her birthday) I buy a bunch of flowers and give it to a ransom person in the street. I love to see the expressions of the receivers face, they are usually shocked but very grateful at this act of kindness but the truth is I get more from it than they do……gone but never forgotten XX
