Weathered the Storm

We weathered the storm just fine; my daughter lost power at her house, but overall we made it through with very little damage. We’re still on the tail end of the tropical storm force winds, but for the most part it’s all over for us.

I didn’t get much puzzling done, though, because I also came down with a virus at the same time. I got a 500 piece puzzle finished yesterday, but that was it for the entire time we were in the house during the hurricane. Once I feel better I’m going to have to get going and get my queue loaded up again.

Monsters

Monsters
Monsters – Ceaco – 700 pieces

I enjoyed this more than I expected to. I haven’t done a cartoon puzzle in a while and I forgot how much fun I find them. The bright colors make me very happy, and the easier sorting is a bonus as well.

Monsters 1

I started with Mike, the green was easy to find and I loved the character too. Every time I look at it I hear Boo yelling “Mike Wazowski!” in the movie. So cute!

Monsters 2

There were an abundance of eyes, and I worked on them next. So many eyes! This puzzle was completely absorbing and entertaining, it reminded me how much I like cartoony puzzles. I bought this one on the insistence of my daughter, it seems she knows better than I do what puzzles I would enjoy – I should take her shopping with me every time. 😉

Another Fun Shopping Trip!

ShoppingYesterday I decided that since Dorian is taking his sweet time coming to visit that I needed to pick up my daughter and go get a few more puzzles before he shows up. I mean, more than 100 puzzles here in the house just doesn’t seem like enough. 😁 Truth is, I just needed to get out of the house and hang out with my baby girl for a little bit – and why not buy puzzles while we’re at it, right?

I had so much fun with the Monsters Inc. panoramic puzzle that I went a little panorama crazy and bought two more Disney ones, an Art Poulin Americana image, and a gorgeous Ciro Marchetti scene. Whoops!

I also bought a 2000 piece Big Ben puzzle, it’s the one in the back with the eggs. The image just looks like it would be extremely fun to put together, not intimidating at all, and it was only $6.99. Now how in the world could I pass that up?

In addition, I also picked up the other two Thaneeya McArdle images similar to Live for Today. It was so enjoyable to assemble and was pretty good quality, so they seemed to jump right into my cart.

There’s also a very difficult Anne Taintor puzzle that I looked at last time we were there, but for some reason this time I felt as though I could handle it without too much frustration – I hope I was right. If not, you guys may hear me doing some whining about it in the future. Please be kind if I get whiny, I know I did it to myself. 😉

There are still 6 puzzles to assemble from the last shopping trip I told you about, plus 5 more from a trip that I didn’t post details on. Whatever. They will all get some lovin’ from me at some point. 💝

Mexican Guitars

Mexican Guitars
Mexican Guitars – Milton Bradley (Big Ben) – 500 pieces

I enjoyed this puzzle way too much, and I wish I’d been able to find a 1000 piece of this image – it went by too fast!

The quality was excellent, with thick pieces that had a dry feeling finish that felt good in my hands. The fit was exceptional, and I was able to pick up the entire puzzle with one hand. I liked the angled sort of grid cut too, it made for interesting piece shapes. Sometimes Milton Bradley Big Ben puzzles aren’t such good quality as this; I was happy to find this one wasn’t lacking at all.

I’ve got another Big Ben puzzle in the to do pile, with an awesome image that I’m very much looking forward to. Having completed this one, it makes me want to get going on the next one even sooner.

If I come across the 1000 piece of this image, I’m definitely getting it. I absolutely LOVED this puzzle!

Another Hurricane…

Hurricane Dorian is on his way for a visit here to the East Coast of Florida, and he looks like he’s going to be packing a big punch. Even if the eyewall doesn’t make landfall, we are still going to be severely affected; extremely high winds and lots of rain are on the way no matter what.

We’re putting up the hurricane shutters today, and are stocked up and ready to shelter in place here at the house. I’m reminded of the last time we did this, during Hurricane Irma almost 2 years ago – I set up and sorted a 2000 piece puzzle that mom, my daughter, and I worked on together during the storm.

I won’t have any help from the puzzle posse this time, so I’m on my own with whatever  puzzles I’ll be assembling – unless my hubby and sons get super bored and want to help. I’ve got plenty of puzzles to keep myself busy (probably enough for many months if I’m honest) but it will most likely only be a few days that we’re all stuck here inside.

If the power is out and the internet isn’t available I won’t be able to post anything. Even though the eye of the hurricane isn’t due until Tuesday morning, we’ll start getting tropical storm force winds tomorrow night. So if I’m absent for a few days don’t worry, most likely it’s just lack of internet access. I’ll be getting plenty of puzzling done though, or at least I hope I will!
