24,192 pieces assembled – 16,128 to go!

60% finished, and I must say I am enjoying this enormous puzzle a lot more than I thought I would. Even with me being a moron and dropping a section, still loving this puzzle and the assembly.

This section took me 14 days to complete.  Not bad.  I wasn’t rushing, just enjoyed myself. I did spend too much time working on it yesterday, but that was because I knew how close I was to the end, and it gets me all riled up! 😉

I’m not feeling great today, so I won’t be moving it off the board until tomorrow. I’m sure we’ll be able to put it on it’s cardboard bed safely, but I won’t feel better until it’s done.

I’m loving the way this section in particular looks; the colors, the fireflies, everything just works together and I think it looks amazing. I know no one really cares that much except for me, but it looks great and I’m proud and I can’t wait to get going on the next section!

Up next, Fantasia. You can see why I think it’s going to be the hardest section. Only 1 character, Mickey. The rest is just twinklies, white foam, blues, browns and black. If it were a smaller puzzle, it would still be difficult, but being over 4000 pieces you can imagine just how many pieces are extremely similar in color and shape. Yikes!

Also, I have to say I’m a teeny bit disappointed in the filmstrip for this one. You can’t tell from the picture, but almost every cell is from The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Fantasia had so many great parts to it, why not include some of them? The dance of the hours, with the ballerina ostriches, elephants, hippopotamuses and alligators.  Night on Bald Mountain with the devil and evil spirits, who are all sent back to hell when dawn comes and you hear the Ave Maria. Or the Pastoral Symphony with the centaurs and “centaurettes” and cupids and Zeus. So many great scenes to choose from, why not at least put some of them in the filmstrip? Just my personal opinion of course.

Anyway – onward to Fantasia!!! 🙂

According to my piece count I only have 332 pieces to go! I may be able to finish it tomorrow, if maybe hubby or mom lends a hand. Or maybe if it’s a rough night and I can’t get comfortable I’ll be up till the wee hours trying to finish it myself.

Can’t believe I’m almost finished with 6 out of 10 sections! 😮 I’ve gone slightly insane and I’m loving it!

I’m down to under 1000 pieces left, so everything is laid out on trays. It’s a little slow going at times, but I know whatever piece I’m looking for has to be here somewhere!

It’s coming along quickly now, and shouldn’t be too much longer before this section is done. I’ve really been enjoying this section and hope that continues with the remaining 4 sections! Well, probably not. Fantasia is next and I think it’s going to be the hardest one. But I think the other 3 sections will be much easier, especially after Fantasia is finished! Fantasia, The Lion King, Bambi and Beauty and the Beast are all that’s left.

From here on in there really isn’t a plan of attack other than to just keep on filling in. Every piece that is assembled is one less piece to look through. The assembly gets a tiny bit faster with each added piece, and before you know it, you’re finished!

More fireflies, more water, more background, more blue!!

Lots more filling in today, only got bits done in fits and starts, but I did get progress made. It doesn’t seem like much sometimes, but it’s starting to look really good! Everything is starting to work together and look like what it’s supposed to look like.

Probably about 3 or 4 days left before I’m done. Won’t be long now 🙂

Lots of filling in done today! I love it when I’m able to fill in blank spaces, it makes it seem like so much more of an accomplishment.

For some reason I’m loving the fireflies. You can’t tell that they are fireflies in the actual puzzle, but since I’ve seen the movie A LOT I know that’s what they are. In the puzzle they’re just little balls of light. I’m not sure why but I think they look really cool in the image. The water is challenging at times because the colors waver back and forth and sometimes just change abruptly, but the challenge is part of the fun. If it were super easy I doubt I would be enjoying it as much.

I’m feeling the need to do another puzzle right now, but I’m not sure which one I want to do. Most of the puzzles I have here are 1000-3000 pieces, and I don’t have enough trays! They’re mostly being taken up with the remaining pieces of this behemoth. I brought home a puzzle from mom’s house that’s only 500 pieces, but I’m not sure it’s the one I want to do. I know, I make absolutely no sense. Hormones. Fickle old lady mind. Whatever. I have to be in the right mood to do certain puzzles. I don’t always have to make sense, or be sane 😉  I’ll figure it out. Maybe.
