Went a Little Crazy…

I bought a BUNCH of puzzles this past week – which is not something I usually do. Do you ever feel like even though you have plenty of puzzles to assemble that none of them are ones you really want to assemble? I understand that’s absolutely not an actual problem or what is called a “first world problem”. I’m just dealing with a lot right now and not handling it well, and when I was trying to decide on what puzzle was next I was not in a good place.

Add quite a severe case of P.A.D.S. into the mix and you’ve got a recipe for crazed online puzzle shopping late at night – and also a trip to a brick and mortar store earlier in the week. You can see from the picture above that the P.A.D.S. was in control of me and I went a little puzzle crazy. (Surprisingly there is no remorse whatsoever)

I only bought Ravensburger and Buffalo puzzles; I wanted good quality that I wouldn’t have to worry about. Also, I wanted to get some Aimee Stewart puzzles, some that I hadn’t seen before. All the puzzles shown above were online purchases, I forgot to add the brick and mortar buys to the picture – sorry.

From Buffalo I got seven Aimee Stewarts (only four shown here), a Charles Wysocki with quilts, a Ciro Marchetti, a couple of the Country Life series (both with quilts), and one of the Vivid Collection.

From Ravensburger I got a couple of interesting 500 piece puzzles, a Hansel and Gretel puzzle that is too cute for words, and one of their Abandoned series called The Deserted Department Store.

Sixteen puzzles later there are even more puzzles at my house to choose from; I haven’t decided which one is next, but I’m happier with my choices at the moment (and in a slightly better headspace). 🧩❤

Queen of Hearts

Queen of Hearts (Villainous) – Ravensburger – 1000 pieces

Loved this one, and a special thanks to Penny for letting me borrow it. It’ll be on it’s way back to you in the next swap box that goes out. And I may take you up on your offer to borrow more of the Villainous puzzles, this was great fun! 💛

Excellent Ravensburger quality, and a super fun image to assemble made this more entertaining than I’d hoped. It’s dark along the sides, but once you get down to the last pieces it isn’t difficult at all to find what goes where.

This was the very first thing I assembled after the border was completed – you know how I love words.

The characters moving across several pictures made it more interesting, and the reproduction was stellar. I absolutely loved this puzzle!

Except for the border; the border sucked. But I’m going to let that slide because the rest of it was great fun.

You Wild Animal!

You Wild Animal! by Mario Zucca – Ravensburger – 1000 pieces

After completing a puzzle that was darker than I normally like, you’d think I would have chosen an image that was bright and colorful. Nope. This artwork isn’t bright or that colorful, but it was exactly what I was in the mood for. It was a bit of a challenge, but I loved it!

Great Ravensburger quality, and I especially loved the matte finish; it made working with the darker sections much easier to not have to deal with the glare.

Have you ever heard of an Umbrellabird? I certainly hadn’t!

The x-ray fish is also new to me, and I just couldn’t resist the sloth and the sea otter peeking out from the left – so cute!

The way the skunk is depicted just makes me smile. This was my first time with artwork by Mario Zucca, and it was fantastic to assemble. There were plenty of words (which always is a bonus for me), and each animal image was so interesting and fun.

Other puzzles with his art are mostly maps, but this one was very different; I don’t think I’d be interested in any of his map puzzles at the moment but I enjoyed his collection of animals very much. 💛

Queen of Hearts In Progress

Queen of Hearts (Villainous) – Ravensburger – 1000 pieces

This beauty of a puzzle was sorted yesterday, and I did start on the border; unfortunately I wasn’t feeling well and spent the rest of the day in bed. Luckily (or unluckily) I don’t sleep much, so I was up and at it early this morning and got the border finished.

The border wasn’t quick or easy and I admit to hating it just a little bit. There were a few spots where the colors changed some and the lines get brighter or duller, but mostly it was more tedious than your average border.

My slight OCD dictates that unless the border is next to impossible I always start there. There have been a few puzzles where starting there would have caused more frustration than I was willing to endure, but for the most part it’s where I need to begin. Thank goodness these are Ravensburger puzzles, if they were made by a company with lesser quality the border might have been even worse. Oh well, it’s done.

Here’s hoping the rest of the assembly is more entertaining than the beginning was!

Nothing in Progress

I’ve chosen which puzzle is next, but I haven’t started sorting it yet. Mom bought this at the thrift store five years ago (so says the sticker) and I’m just now in the mood to assemble it. It’s funny how many puzzles are still here that she bought for us.

Yesterday was the first time in three days that I’ve even sat at my puzzle board. I finally took pictures of the Gorey book covers puzzle and disassembled it. I put together a super quick 300 piece puzzle and now I’ve decided to give Streets of France by Ravensburger a go.
