Bulldog In Progress…

Bulldog IP
Bulldog with Butterflies by Coco de Paris – Cardinal – 300 pieces

Well, as much as I love this image by Coco de Paris, I have to take issue with the title. If you’re reading this on June 9, 2020 you can see on the right side of the page (under what’s on my board) what the finished image will be – that is NOT a bulldog! It’s a Boston Terrier, and I know this because my beloved puzzle pal who faithfully sits beside me while I assemble jigsaw puzzles is a pure bred Boston Terrier. I know what they look like; I look into this sweet, smiling, adorable face all day. Every day.

If you want to split hairs you could tell me that the breed came from a cross between an English Bulldog and a White Terrier; but I’m cranky today and would suggest that no one try to split hairs with me right now. 😉

Ok, rant over.

My meds have been changed again, and now there’s a patch on my shoulder delivering pain medication every hour. It isn’t going well, so even though I REALLY wanted to get going on this puzzle I just wasn’t able to this past weekend. But I finally got myself out of bed last night so that hubby could go to sleep (he brings home the bacon, he’s gotta be able to rest), and rather than watch the news I put myself in front of my puzzle table and got to work.

The butterflies were where I started once the edge was completed, and once they were done I picked out the all white pieces and put those in. Sometimes I prefer to get the more difficult areas of an image done first, then I won’t be dreading them. So when I get back to the puzzle this morning all that’s left is that sweet face and lots of words – both of which I love. 💗

Ernest In Progress

Ernest IP
Ernest by Jeff Foxworthy – Cardinal – 300 pieces

Things are going slowly in the ongoing saga of Stacey and her meds, and unfortunately I have yet to get back to a larger puzzle. My plan was to start a 1000 or 2000 piece after finishing the Josephine Wall, but it just hasn’t worked out yet.

Normally my preference is to move around on piece counts; after I finish a small puzzle it’s time for a larger one, and vice versa. That hasn’t been what’s going on with me lately. I re-assembled another one of my sets of 12 shaped mini puzzles during this week in bed, but haven’t been able to get myself back to sitting at the puzzle table for any length of time.

My next puzzle did get partially sorted (while I was sitting in bed), and when I couldn’t sleep last night the edges finally got put together, and a little bit at the top.

I hope your weekend is a bit more productive than my week has been.

Happy puzzling! 🧩

Call of the Sea In Progress

Call of the Sea IP
Call of the Sea by Josephine Wall – Anatolian – 260 pieces

I have been having some real difficultly with my meds lately, and until 11 o’clock last night hadn’t touched a new puzzle since I finished Quilts last week. It only came off the board yesterday, it had been sitting there all weekend. If you knew me you’d know that’s weird; I finish a puzzle, take my pictures, make sure they’re good, and immediately disassemble the puzzle and decide on a new one.

But thankfully I finally got myself out of bed last night when hubby was blissfully snoring and sleep eluded me. I was just going to sit in the living room and watch tv, but ended up being drawn to my puzzle board.

I chose a puzzle with fewer pieces than normal, this beautiful Josephine Wall image is only 260 pieces. It’s the best of both worlds for me; it’s a smaller piece count so that even if I have to spend much less time in my puzzle chair I can still make good progress, and it’s a Jo Wall, so it isn’t so easy as to be boring – my mind will still be active and engaged.

Working on anything fun today? I’d love to hear about it!

Banana Split In Progress

Banana Split IP
Banana Split by Aimee Stewart – Buffalo – 1000 pieces

Unfortunately yesterday didn’t see much puzzling, but I’m hopeful that today will be better. With an Aimee Stewart image on my board, all I really want to do is get back there and start placing pieces. 😍

It just reminds me how much I enjoy working a puzzle with her artwork; the colors are beautiful, they’re fun to put together, not so easy as to make it boring, and it’s lovely to watch the image come together. I’d tell you more about it, but my fingers are itching to be placing pieces rather than typing!

Are you working on something fun this week?

Fresh Picked Flowers In Progress

Fresh Picked Flowers IP
Fresh Picked Flowers by Jane Maday – Sunsout – 500 pieces

I have to say I’m having a much better time with this Sunsout puzzle than I did with the last one I assembled. This one has larger pieces, and the quality of the fit is so much better than the last one. Fit makes all the difference!

It’s been going together very quickly; I’m loving the bright colors, the beautiful image, and the random cut that keeps things interesting. It’s one of those puzzles that’s hard for me to walk away from – which means it should be done very soon.  🍒

That’s part of the reason that I usually only purchase Sunsout puzzles second-hand, the quality is hit or miss. Sometimes you get a great puzzle like this one, and sometimes you get quality like I had on Rainy Day Sketch. I don’t like to gamble on whether or not the puzzle I buy will be good quality, and for me Sunsout puzzles are a gamble.

This puzzle perfectly demonstrates that premise. I bought the two puzzles – Fresh Picked Flowers and Rainy Day Sketch – at the same time, at the same store; it turned out 50/50, I got one good one and one bad one. They were both 500 piece puzzles, why such a difference in the way they fit together? Get it together Sunsout!
