img_2600I got quite a bit of filling in done today and was able to attach the middle section to both the top and bottom! Lots and lots of progress. Had to stop early though, because I worked on it a bit too long, even when I should have taken a break.

To my surprise, this section isn’t as horrible as I thought it was going to be. Don’t get me wrong, it is one of the more difficult ones in the whole puzzle. But it isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Either that, or I’m becoming a super puzzler. 😉

Just over 2000 pieces assembled!

I’m kind of impressed with myself! I’m over halfway there in 7 days! It’s going along about as quickly as the other sections, which surprises me. I thought for sure it would take longer. Maybe the second half of it will, I’ll have to wait and see.

I have a bit more of the brown to do, hopefully I can finish that tomorrow or Sunday. Not sure where to go from there, but I’ll wait and see what speaks to me. I know I keep saying that, but with a puzzle like this it isn’t always easy to know where you should go next after finishing a section or color. At least for me it isn’t. Right now I have 4 containers of pieces left. One is all pale blueish/purplish pieces, and they probably go all around the edges of the image next to the twinklies. One is all darker pieces, dark browns, black, and very very dark blues. Another is just medium blue pieces which are probably most of the background on the left side of the image. And the last container is half and half pieces (half blue/half white, etc.) or pieces that didn’t belong anywhere else but there weren’t enough to make a separate container for. None of them are jumping out at me like, “You should do us next!” So sometimes I just have to wait till I need to start working on something else and decide right then which one looks like the least tedious, or has the fewest pieces, etc. That’s how my old lady brain works, in case anyone was wondering. 😉

I wonder how many other people are working on this puzzle. Are they working on it alone or with friends? Are they enjoying it as much as I am? What are they planning on doing with it when they’re finished? How far have they gotten? I’m curious. I’d love to know how many units Ravensburger has sold.

If anyone who reads my blog is working on this puzzle I’d love to hear from you!

I know, not a great picture, lots of glare. But it does have the entire puzzle in the picture, which has not always been the case. 🙂

This section is going relatively quickly. I seem to have to take more breaks this week, but when I am able to sit down and work on it, it’s going well. I got as much of the light brown done as I can for the moment, and I just sorted a bunch of the white foam. I hope to be able to get a bit of the waves/foam done on the right side of the puzzle tomorrow.

I’m not sure if it’s going to continue to go well, or if it’s going to slow down and take more time. I look at the pieces that are left, and they’re all kind of similar and I have no idea where to go next. But I’m going to just keep plugging away, I will get there eventually.

I didn’t add onto the twinklies today, even though I have a bit more to add if I can find where they go. I mainly worked on Mickey, and once he was done I did part of the stone he is standing on and the stairs beside him. It doesn’t look like much, but it’s a start.

I was surprised I had pulled almost all of the pieces for Mickey except for his hat and three missing pieces from his hands.  I didn’t think I’d have that many! Assembling him went very quickly this morning and then I worked here and there throughout the day with the light blue of the rock and the dark and light browns of the stairs.

Putting together Mickey actually had me looking forward to the next 3 sections, because there are large characters and blocks of color that will be fun to assemble – like Mickey was this morning! All I have to do now is get through this section. Lots of sprays of water, foam, and swirls of magic. I can do it!

Not bad! Although I have to tell you that I cheated a little bit. I couldn’t sleep much last night, so I was up late working on the puzzle after I had already posted. Whatever, there are no rules here, it’s puzzle anarchy!!

I was more careful this time about sorting the twinklies, and as you can see I have much more of them done than on the Little Mermaid section. I still have some left over! There’s something nice about having a frame around the puzzle, it’s soothing to my OCD I think. I’ve always done puzzles by doing the edge first and so I feel better having an “edge”.

Tomorrow I’ll work on Mickey, but that won’t take too long because I don’t have very many pieces for him sorted. I’m not sure if I’ll move on to something else once I’m done with those or if I’ll sift through some containers of pieces looking for ones I missed the first time. Depends. Tune in tomorrow to find out!
