Pixels & Pizza by Aimee Stewart – Buffalo – 1000 pieces

Gee, I wonder if Stacey had any fun putting together this Aimee Stewart puzzle…of course she did! It’ll be no surprise to anyone that this was a fantastic puzzle that I adored assembling. It wasn’t any easy one, but the challenge was fun and there were so many small details to discover; another fantastic image by my absolute favorite jigsaw puzzle artist!

The quality was only good/very good – because there were quite a few bent pieces. Part of it was most likely that it was cut during the early part of the run while the fit was still quite tight and put into a box that only just fits all of the pieces. It didn’t break apart as easily as it should and when it was boxed some of the pieces were bent. It wasn’t a huge problem for me, it happens, but there were probably 10 or so pieces with bent tabs – so I’m letting you know.

There were no other issues with the quality; the fit was very good, the image reproduction was excellent, and the usual Buffalo variety of piece shapes. Overall I enjoyed the puzzle immensely, despite the problem with a few of the pieces.

Any other oldies like me out there that had a big ‘ol boombox? Mine looked somewhat like this, but it had two cassette players, that way you could make mix tapes and record from the radio, etc. There were no MP3 players, and we didn’t carry around phones that could hold your entire music library – we had to work a little bit harder for our music. You young’uns don’t know how good you have it!

Wow. These certainly take me back, remember when if you wanted to play a video game you had to leave your house and find someplace with an arcade game? I do! Times certainly have changed in just my lifetime. Sigh. I’m feeling positively ancient.

This actually made me laugh out loud – the button that says “Save Ferris”. 🤣 I graduated high school the year Ferris Bueller’s Day Off debuted in theaters, but if it had been available I definitely would have worn that button at school! Love it. 💜

Every time I complete an Aimee Stewart puzzle I immediately want to start another one. The colors, the details, the overall look – they are so entertaining to put together!

Summer Books In Progress…

Vintage Summer Books by Aimee Stewart – Buffalo – 1000 pieces

Once again I’m working on a puzzle with an image by Aimee Stewart, and I can’t seem to keep myself away from it! It’s too much fun, and it keeps calling me back. 😊

This picture is only one small bit of the puzzle, because the only way to get a good picture of the whole thing without glare from the lights is to stand the board against the wall the way I do when I finish a puzzle. Taking off all my trays and containers of pieces wasn’t something I felt like doing this morning, so you just get to see one corner. I would apologize, but…I don’t want to.

Finishing up the sorting yesterday I kept having an argument with myself about whether or not this was the puzzle to assemble next. Watching all the pieces line up on the trays, seeing all those flowers and all that greenery – I kept thinking that it’ll be too difficult and maybe I should do something else. As you can see I decided to keep going (or I couldn’t decide whether or not to stop and got caught in a loop of indecision). 🤷‍♀️

There have been one or two puzzles with Aimee’s artwork that were full of flowers and vines and lots of green things; they were the most challenging puzzles of hers that I’ve done. It looks like this one might get difficult once all the books are done, but for now I’m REALLY enjoying myself!

Pixels & Pizza by Aimee Stewart – Buffalo – 1000 pieces

Well, sort of in progress. I’m still sorting it – and that’s a start, right? 1000 piece puzzles take a lot longer for me to sort these days; I get so antsy to start assembling and want nothing more than to be done with sorting, so I take frequent breaks. In the back of my mind, I know that if I get the sorting done that I’ll be happier with the assembly so I keep slogging through it little bits at a time.

I’m very excited to start working on this image; there are SO MANY words, it’s got a fabulous 80s feel to it, and the colors are so bright and bold – it’s gonna be a great time – I can tell!

Happy Vibes by Aimee Stewart – Buffalo – 1000 pieces

How many more ways can I find to tell you how much I love Aimee Stewart’s artwork? I fear it’s getting redundant. Apologies. This puzzle was beautiful, entertaining, and great quality (except for quite a few bent pieces). The use of color, the composition – everything was just right. It’ll come as no surprise that I loved it – it was a challenge at times, but it wouldn’t be fun otherwise. 💖

Buffalo puzzles come in small square boxes that just hold all the pieces with not a lot of room left over. In this case, it seems as though the pieces didn’t break apart as easily as they normally do and were bent by the box top being put on in the factory. It isn’t that much of a big deal, I’ve dealt with much worse; I did think it was worth mentioning though.

Love the vintage look of this postcard, and the feathers were really fun to assemble too.

The look of this pen reminds me of a great puzzle mom and I assembled together about 5 years ago – called Fountain Pens. Gorgeous puzzle. That was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this pen, and it had me going back through the blog to find the old puzzle post. Who doesn’t love the look of a beautiful old fountain pen?

So many butterflies!

All in all it was a great puzzle with such a beautiful image that I never wanted to stop working on it, even when I absolutely needed to stop working and take a break. So many happy vibes to assemble, no time for breaks!

Skate Night (1000)

Skate Night by Aimee Stewart – Buffalo – 1000 pieces

Happily, this puzzle was even more fun than the 300 pieces of this image that I completed a couple of years ago. I’m so glad it was finally released in a larger piece count!

Excellent quality all around, Buffalo puzzles have a great fit, nice variety of shapes, excellent reproduction, and a great cut. I haven’t been disappointed by any of their puzzles lately that I can recall. Sometimes there’s a bit of puzzle dust – but that’s par for the course and unless it’s excessive it doesn’t really bother me at all.

I didn’t really notice this the first time around, this is a ticket for the roller derby!

The words and image here for the “super skater” were the most challenging pieces for me to find. I’d go through once and be certain I’d found them all. Then I’d assemble the pieces and see that I was missing SO MANY. It’s always interesting to me when you are absolutely sure that you know exactly what you’re looking for, and when you end up with the right piece it isn’t nearly what you thought.

Becoming familiar with the pieces, and the way your perception of them changes as you work on a puzzle is part of the enjoyment for me. You start off looking through them, and unless it’s a simple image it takes time to get to know them – and get to know the whole of the image you’re working on. What seems like a bunch of random splotches of color or figures seems difficult at first. Then you realize what belongs with what, and you start to see the differences in each color or each piece of a larger image; for me it’s remarkably rewarding and satisfying.

Aimee Stewart’s digital artwork almost always makes me smile, her use of color is absolutely beautiful and her puzzles are such great fun for me to assemble. She’s number one on my list of puzzle artists and I’m always happy to have an Aimee Stewart puzzle to put together.
