Kellogg’s Fun Pack

Kellogg’s Fun Pack – Spin Master Games – 600 pieces (100 pieces each)

Another six-pack of cereal puzzles, but instead of General Mills cereals this time we have Kellogg’s. It’s been quite a while since I did the first set (by White Mountain), and although last time each little puzzle got it’s own post I don’t think it’ll be that way this time around. There are way too many puzzles in the queue to add 6 more all at once!

As far as I know this is my first Spin Master puzzle, and the quality was impressive. The pieces were on the thinner side, but not too much so; excellent reproduction, good fit, and nice variety of shapes too. The pieces are on the larger side, and each finished puzzle was approximately 9 x 13 inches – pretty big for only 100 pieces. All around they are a good quality set of puzzles, and were extremely fun to put together.

Ready for some cereal memories and critiques?

These used to be called Sugar Smacks when I was young, but nowadays we wouldn’t want anyone to think we’re feeding our little ones anything less than healthy. Changing the name but keeping the food inside the same doesn’t do much if you ask me. Oh well. Corporations. Whatchya gonna do?

I don’t recall ever having these, they never really appealed to me or my sisters; or maybe we did have them and I’m just too old to remember things accurately. 🤔

Here’s another one that I never cared for. Fruity and chocolatey cereals weren’t my thing as a child – and they still aren’t.

Ah, my old friend Toucan Sam; I enjoyed his commercials very much, but not his cereal. Again, not a fan of the fruity tastes. They all tasted the same to me – boring.

Now we’re getting to the good stuff if you ask me. Of the six cereals in this pack, this is really the only one I actually liked. It’s like Corn Flakes, but without the hassle of having to transfer the sugar bowl into cereal bowl to make it palatable. Every once in a while I get a craving for these and buy myself a box, but that doesn’t happen very often, and usually before the box is gone I’ve become bored with them.

Corn Pops were ok, in a pinch – they were sweeter than Kix, and the texture was slightly less like cardboard; but overall I’d rather have almost anything else (except Grape Nuts). If memory serves they were just puffs of squeaky cereal without much flavor. No thank you.

Rice Krispies are BORING as a cereal in my humble opinion, but excellent for making tasty treats with melted marshmallows and a little butter.

These little puzzles were lots of fun, and if you’re in the mood for some sweetened cereals without all the calories I can definitely recommend this pack of puzzles. 🥣

And tomorrow is the announcement of the winner of the Happy New Year Puzzle Giveaway – if you haven’t entered yet this is your last chance!

Fish Doodle

Fish Doodle – MicroPuzzles – 150 pieces

This little guppy of a puzzle was lots of fun, and so colorful! We always have a puzzle going in the powder room these days, and hubby is enjoying them just as much as I do. These MicroPuzzles are very good quality, and are perfect for puzzling wherever you’d like to take them. 😉

Hubby and I were talking about it after we finished this puzzle and he was saying how much he enjoyed this one. Then he said “Sometimes you just can’t seem to find anything at all, and then one time you look at it and everything clicks. Then you can see where everything should go.”

I think I may have him on the line – he’s hooked! 🎣

Love Coffee

Love Coffee – Cra-Z-Art – 300 pieces

I was in the mood for a quick collage, and this beautiful 300 piece fit the bill just right! And as a coffee lover, of course the image spoke to me – gotta have my coffee in the mornings. ☕

The quality of this Cra-Z-Art puzzle had me pleasantly surprised. Excellent fit, beautiful image reproduction, good variety of shapes, and sturdy chipboard – all of these were better than I’d assumed they’d be. Don’t you love it when things are better than you thought? I do!

This was my favorite section, the hands cupping the mug make almost a heart. LOVE me some coffee! Black with two sugars please. 🖤

I love being able to do this with a puzzle. And I was so sure of this fit that I took this picture BEFORE I took any other pictures. I knew it wouldn’t fall apart, so there was no fear at all – I just picked it up and stood it on it’s bottom edge. That is not how things usually go, I always take my regular pictures before standing up a puzzle, just in case things go pear-shaped. The fit on this puzzle was exceptional!

Irons in the Fire

Irons in the Fire – Bepuzzled – 135 pieces

Normally “mystery” puzzles aren’t my thing. Not because I don’t care for the mystery aspect of it, but because almost every single one I’ve ever done or looked at has had terrible quality. This was a thrift store purchase though, and for some reason I was willing to take a chance on it this time.

It’s a good thing too, because this is the best quality puzzle from this brand that I’ve ever seen. The pieces were thick (like, Ravensburger thick) and fit together well, if slightly loosely. It’s a double-sided puzzle, so one side is shinier and feels a little more stiff; but that is how double-sided puzzles are, no matter the brand. Overall, the quality was impressive.

**I’m going to say that I’ve done a few Bepuzzled puzzles before, and my impression is that overall the quality is underwhelming, and at times REALLY bad. My opinion is only for this puzzle, not the brand.**

Here’s the mystery…. Four business partners are golfing; Howie, Will, Flip, and Duff. Someone has been selling company secrets and a private detective has been hired by Howie to find out who. Howie gets attacked and kidnapped after the round of golf, and what is found is the following picture. (There’s much more info to the story, but this is the gist of it)

I’m giving the solution below, so stop reading here if you have this puzzle and don’t want any spoilers.

What the police found was everything in disarray, but four clubs laid out neatly in a row next to his open cell phone. The 3, 5, 4, and 7 irons in a row – using the number/letter combinations on the phone – spell out who was stealing company secrets and who arranged to have Howie taken.

Still Life – Fast Moving

Still Life-Fast Moving by Salvador Dali – Ravensburger – 300 pieces

Oh man this was so much fun, it was done in one sitting! I should have taken a break, I should have taken several breaks – because I paid for my insistence on staying seated for that long – but it was worth it. I love puzzles. 💛

This was a fantastic puzzle to do after the horrid mandala by Page Publications; this was like eating fresh fruit after having to lick garbage – it tastes like nectar from the gods. Sorry for the gross imagery, but honestly the difference between the two was equally as great. Ravensburger quality – especially with the smaller piece counts – is excellent!

This is actually the first image by Salvador Dali that I’ve done and I enjoyed it very much. Famous art doesn’t always make for the most entertaining puzzles (for me anyways), and I haven’t seen one of Dali’s works from a good brand that I wanted to assemble until now. Eternal thanks to my friend and fellow puzzle blogger Nicola from Puzzler1909 for sending this in our puzzle swap – it was lovely!

Started with the bedspread/tablecloth, it was the most difficult part, and sometimes I like to get the hard parts out of the way at the beginning.

Loved this section, it’s so crisp and clear it looks almost like a photograph – fantastic!
