Midnight in the Garden by Ute Thonissen – Ravensburger – 368 pieces
Um…..you may be shocked to hear this, but I didn’t like this Ravensburger puzzle at all. It’s one of the Escape series and it was my first time with these puzzles; I didn’t really understand the concept and I don’t think the instructions are helpful at all. I won’t be writing a lot about this. It’s another type of mystery puzzle and I don’t like to spoil things for others who may enjoy them, so I don’t discuss solutions or show the entire finished image.
This puzzle made me feel stupid because I don’t think that you are given enough information to begin with, and I found it extremely confusing.
If you just want to assemble the puzzle you can do that, but I have a warning for you – do not assemble the border first. It’s very dark, it’s hard to distinguish if you have the correct piece because all the pieces seem to be interchangeable. It’s frustrating if you try to start with the edges, so just don’t.
I really wanted a fun puzzle to play with today but this was not fun for me. 😥
Thanks for sharing your experience! I noticed those escape puzzles. I liked the images but the mystery of them and the piece counts kept me away. They just looked like too much intrigue and mind work for me. I’m sure there are plenty of folks who enjoy figuring out the game and solving the the mysteries. But I’m kind of a dweeb, I like Easy puzzles!!

I don’t mind a mystery that needs to be solved, but with no instructions to go on I felt like a moron. I didn’t understand it, and just didn’t like it. Oh well. It’s a pretty peacock in the picture, at least I got that done. LOL

sorry to hear that it was disappointing. I have not tried one of the Escape puzzles yet and now I don’t know that I will be in a rush to do so. Thanks for the heads up?

Who knows, it may be exactly your kinda puzzle. The only way to know for sure is to try it yourself. I found out it wasn’t for me, that’s all.

Yeah I did one of those last year and got very frustrated with the edges as well. So I gave up and left those til the end, and still got frustrated with them. Turns out they actually need to be interchangeable for the “solution” to work, at least on the puzzle I did.

I don’t think it would have been as bad for me if the instructions were clear about the best way to assemble and solve the puzzle. It made me feel as if I were less than intelligent, which then pissed me off – which then made me disgusted with the whole thing.
That’s all just me of course, the many and varied moods of Stacey – menopausal menace.
