The Pinwheel Gator by Alex Beard – Liberty – 512 pieces

This one is going slowly, but it’s nothing to do with the puzzle itself, I just can’t sit for long at the table. Besides, I don’t look at the box image when I’m working on a wooden puzzle; it makes it last longer and I can really be in the moment and enjoy everything a wooden puzzle has to offer.

Normally I don’t work from top to bottom, but that’s just how this one is going. I started with the purple color at the top and am working each color from there down. It’s quite fun!

From what I can see from the pieces I think this is another puzzle from Liberty that has an additional character/image to assemble. Remember The Seven Chakras where each little puzzle had a representation of the chakra that could be assembled as a multipiece whimsy? Well, I’m pretty sure this puzzle has a big gator that can be assembled with some of the pieces.

It doesn’t seem to be one like Birds, whose Alternate Solution used every piece; it looks as though only some of the pieces will be used.

I hope it isn’t too difficult, because I really wanna try to get it done when I’m finished with this puzzle. 🐊

The Pinwheel Gator by Alex Beard – Liberty – 512 pieces

It’s sorted, but hasn’t been started yet; and there are SO MANY whimsy pieces that laying them all out to take a picture is gonna take a very long time! Therefore you just get a little preview today of some of the whimsy pieces in this gorgeous puzzle.

Many of the whimsies seem as though they’re Mardi Gras themed, and since Mardi Gras starts this Friday I thought this was the perfect time to get this puzzle going. I’ve had it here for months and months, and have really been looking forward to it. 😍

Hope you all have fabulous puzzles in the works right now, I know I’ll really be enjoying myself putting this beauty together!

Zojoji Temple in Shiba, 1925 by Hasui Kawase – Wentworth – 40 pieces

I enjoyed this puzzle very much, even though it went together quite quickly. My lack of puzzling in December and January mean that I don’t have any puzzles left in the queue and I was looking for some small, wintery-looking puzzles to get my completed puzzle count back up to where it should be.

As usual, it was great Wentworth quality. And for me there’s something so intriguing and lovely about Asian artwork, it’s just beautiful to look at as well as to assemble.

Aren’t these fantastic whimsies? I love the Geisha!

Clown Fish

Clown Fish – Wentworth (Mini Mindful) – 40 pieces

This Mini Mindful puzzle from Wentworth certainly lived up to it’s name! The collection is designed to “calm your mind, piece by piece” with mostly difficult shapes and images that require concentration. You had to pay extremely close attention and I ended up finding that the rest of the world almost fades away as you’re looking for the next piece or color to fit into the picture.

Wentworth’s mini puzzles were already favorites of mine, but the Mini Mindful collection is even better in my opinion. Sometimes with the regular 40 piece minis it goes together a little too quickly, but the Mini Mindful puzzles take more brain power and it normally isn’t a quick assembly – love that!

The triangular pieces made this already challenging image even more so – it probably took me around 25-30 minutes to put this one together. Exactly what I needed that day. 🔺💖

Wonderland

Wonderland by Bill Bell – Wentworth – 140 pieces

This artwork is so crammed full of characters and things to see that even at only 140 pieces it was a bit of a challenge! Alice in Wonderland seems to be quite a common theme for puzzles, I’ve probably done eight or nine Wonderland themed puzzles, they make for good fun if you ask me.

I’m not sure what possessed me to get this puzzle, it really isn’t an image I would normally go for – there’s just too much going on. Perhaps it was the colors, or the piece count, I’m not certain. Whatever it was, I’m glad I didn’t just go with the usual style of artwork that usually finds it’s way into my cart because even with the added difficulty it really was very enjoyable.

It wasn’t until I was almost finished with the assembly that I realized the caterpillar was even in the image! He sure does look exhausted, doesn’t he?

The Queen of Hearts certainly looks like a mean one, doesn’t she? When I was looking at the pieces I was sure those teeth were going to be on the Cheshire Cat. Wrong!

Such great whimsies; I didn’t read the books, so I’m not sure if there was an owl in the story, but they still are great whimsies for this image.

Even though it was difficult it was still lots of fun to put this little one together, and so much to see!
