I Forgot!

Whimsies from Alice in Wonderland

Yesterday I posted the Alice in Wonderland puzzle, but I forgot to get a picture of all the whimsies before I put it away. I usually take the picture of all the whimsy pieces before I start the assembly, but since this puzzle was unusual and had many multi-piece whimsies I decided to take the picture when I was finished. Obviously, I forgot.

One of my readers pointed this out to me in the comments, so I went back through the box and pulled out all the whimsies I could find. I can’t be sure I got them all, but I hope I did – they’re beautiful, and perfect for the puzzle.

This was the first Wentworth puzzle I’ve done that had multi-piece whimsies, they were very detailed and appropriate for the image. There were dodo birds, rabbits, lizards, the Cheshire Cat, and even the letters L and C – for Lewis Carroll. They made for a fun assembly!

I’ll do my best not to forget again, but no promises; my brain is aging even as I type this. 😉

New 40,320 Piece Mickey Mouse Puzzle!

Well what do you think of this?!? I read about this puzzle on the blog of a friend from Russia, and found it already available for sale on a jigsaw puzzle site in the Czech Republic! It took a lot of searching online to find it, but I refused to give up and finally found the little bugger. 🙂

Here’s the info I was able to find:

  • 40,320 pieces (same size as Disney Memorable Moments)
  • 22.3 feet x 6.2 feet (680 x 190 cm)
  • Comes in 10 sections of 4032 pieces
  • Box weighs about 44 pounds
  • Manufactured by Ravensburger
  • Priced at around $500 USD 😮

This puzzle is celebrating the 90th birthday of our beloved Mickey Mouse. I wish I could get a better look at each of the 10 frames, but unfortunately I was not able to find any images of each of the sections separately. This is the best I can do for now…

It looks as though it’s artist desk/collage images from Mickey’s past 90 years. I’m really looking forward to being able to see each panel close up – it looks like fun!

I wasn’t able to find the official title of the puzzle. It could be “Mickey – The True Original” – that’s what I can see on the front of the box; my friend in Russia says the title is “Disney – The 90th Birthday of Mickey Mouse”. According to the Czech puzzle site, the name is Puzzle Mickey Mouse. Google translate tries, but it doesn’t always do right by me, so I can’t say for sure just yet. 😉

I doubt I’ll be buying this one any time soon, but for some reason news of this puzzle really got me excited! I spent well over an hour searching everywhere I could think of to find any information I could. I’ll update with new info when I can find it, but these things seem to take a long time – especially when you’re really looking forward to them!

What do you think? Gonna give this one a go?

Oops, I did it again!

Three Arches

Five new puzzles are on their way to my house, including the image above. I don’t need them, but I want them – and I don’t feel bad about it at all. 😁

I got an unexpected check recently, and after a disappointing trip to Tuesday Morning that netted me zero puzzles I had this extra money burning a hole in my pocket. What to do?

At first I planned on doing nothing; I have plenty of puzzles both here and at mom’s house and I don’t actually NEED more. Later on in the evening though, I was in bed and just looking around at puzzles online and ended up on the Wentworth site. They’re having a summer sale – many discontinued puzzles are 25% off – and I also have a code for 10% off any regularly priced puzzles. How unfair to tempt me like that!

I spent a bit of time thinking about it; I don’t really need them – just because they’re on sale doesn’t mean I have to buy them. After a while though, I remembered a few things. 1) Puzzles make me happy and help me feel better, 2) I can afford it right now, and 3) Life is short, if getting some new puzzles makes you happy why wouldn’t you? I shouldn’t feel bad for doing something that’s just for me, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks or says.

Before I knew it five puzzles had jumped into my cart. I didn’t want them to feel unloved, so I adopted all five of them. I’m a giver – these lonely puzzles need a place to go, and selflessly I will be sharing my home with them. Ain’t I a sweetie?? 😉

Puzzle in Progress

Pattern 3 by Patchwork

I’m having lots of fun with this puzzle so far, I love the artwork. It’s the Patchwork series by Milton Bradley, and the patterns are gorgeous and make for really fun puzzling!

I’ve already completed Pattern 4, and I’m on the lookout for Pattern 1 (of course I’d have to leave the house and go shopping to find it, but those are minor details 😉 ) I can’t even find an image of Pattern 2 anywhere online, so either it wasn’t made into a puzzle or it is no longer in production.

The quality of these “brick box” puzzles is quite good; I love the feel of the pieces and the fit is excellent. I’m hoping to get this one finished today, it’s too much fun to leave sitting for long!

Pining for Pieces

IMG_3051

I finished my last puzzle on Tuesday morning and haven’t worked on a puzzle since. I came down with a virus or something and have just felt too awful to even work on a puzzle in bed. I’ve been missing it very much. 🙁

Usually I can work through whatever’s going on and at least put a few pieces into a puzzle every day. Even if it’s only a couple of pieces it makes me feel a little better. I can’t remember the last time I went this many days without puzzling at all.

There are MANY puzzles here that I am looking forward to assembling, so it’s definitely not a lack of puzzles to choose from. I’m hoping to at least start a new puzzle today. I found a couple of 100 piece puzzles at mom’s house that I hadn’t seen before and brought them home; I figure maybe such a small puzzle won’t be too overwhelming and might help get me back in the groove. Hopefully today’s the day – fingers crossed! 🤞
