Bugs Bunny

My husband and I had a great time assembling this puzzle. We’re of the generation that watched Saturday morning cartoons when they were the GOOD cartoons – Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, The Road Runner and Wile E.Coyote, Pepe LePew, etc. We pretty much remembered every cartoon depicted here and had a great time discussing our favorites. It was a fun walk down memory lane.

I honestly do not remember anything specific about the quality of this puzzle. It must not have been too bad, otherwise I would definitely remember that. I always remember the ones I don’t care for. It may be that I’m only focusing on how much I enjoyed this image and spending time with my husband working on it. I can’t say for sure. It was a fun puzzle though, I do know that!

Sunbonnet Quilt Shop

This puzzle was so much fun to put together. I love all the different fabrics on the clothing and the quilts, I love the symmetrical quality of the quilts and the shelves in the shop – it was just a treat to assemble! I don’t know if I can explain why I enjoyed it so much, but I really had a great time!

Mom and I don’t usually buy Mega Puzzles, but this was another thrift store purchase and we just loved the image. Sometimes we put our jigsaw snobbery aside and buy a puzzle solely for the image even if it’s made by a company we don’t usually purchase. We are puzzle snobs, unashamedly so – but not so much that we wouldn’t do a puzzle just because it isn’t our usual brand. We’re always on the lookout for fun puzzles, wherever they come from!

You can see from the picture that there is basically only one piece shape – 2 prongs 2 holes. Not the most interesting pieces to say the least, and they were also on the thin side. The image quality was quite good though, and the artwork was beautifully drawn and perfect for puzzling.

Bold Spirit

This is one of the Vivid Collection puzzles by Buffalo. I don’t normally do 300 piece puzzles, but it was nice to start and finish a puzzle in such a short period of time!

This one was quite fun to do. It wasn’t a puzzle that you could look at a piece and see where it fit into the picture. This was just color matching for the most part. Of course that’s basically what you do with every puzzle anyway. The colors were bright and the finished image is really striking. It didn’t take much time at all with both my mother and I working on it.

Mom always finds the coolest puzzles at the thrift stores, and sometimes buys ones that we might not usually purchase – because they’re around 99 cents or so. It’s nice to work a puzzle that you aren’t sure whether you’ll enjoy it or not and then be pleasantly surprised. If I saw this puzzle in a catalog or online it wouldn’t be one that would catch my eye; or if it did, I doubt I would have purchased it. But to my surprise I enjoyed putting this one together very much!

A Christmas Story

We love A Christmas Story here at our house, so this was a fun assembly even though it wasn’t the best quality puzzle. Ralphie and the gang are always welcome here!

Normally Ceaco puzzles are not my cup of tea. We have found several Ceaco puzzles that were apart from the norm with very good quality. One was backed with thick corkboard and had a lot of whimsies, which was super fun and an excellent buy at the thrift store for 99 cents! We also found a Ceaco puzzle backed with red velvet!

This puzzle, however, was a run of the mill Ceaco. The pieces were on the thin side and the image was quite shiny and difficult to work under lights at night. A majority of the puzzle is the dark green Christmas tree, and the gloss on the pieces made it difficult to distinguish shades and and shapes when working at night. It was a random cut puzzle, which did make it more interesting to assemble, so that was a plus.

All in all, our love for the movie outweighed the quality of the puzzle, and we still enjoyed the assembly. “You should see how it looks from out here!” 😉

The Earth 3D

My very first 3D puzzle! I must admit I’ve never been interested in doing a 3D puzzle, it just seemed odd to me. It was so much fun!!

Mom found this at a thrift store for $2.00. Since it was only 540 pieces I decided we should give it a try, and we both loved it! The plastic pieces feel very nice, and it fits together quite tightly. We had a great time together assembling it, with lots of giggles and laughter.

I would definitely do another 3D puzzle. I was completely wrong, they are much more fun than I thought!
