Progress! Filmstrip is complete except for 2 missing pieces that I obviously didn’t sort correctly.

I had a rough time getting started yesterday, but it seems to be moving along more quickly today. It’s so nice to be actually assembling the puzzle pieces and not just “painting by numbers” like I did on The Jungle Book the second time.

Tomorrow starts my experiment with doing the twinklies at the beginning instead of the very last. I should know soon enough if it’s going to be a yea or a nay, stay tuned to find out! I’m sure no one will be able to sleep tonight, waiting and wondering 😉

I wasn’t feeling the best today, very tired and hurting, and it just wasn’t a good day overall. Although I was very happy to be able to spend a little time on the new section. It has begun!

It doesn’t look like much but that’s over 200 pieces put together, which is amazing because I wasn’t able to spend much time at all working on it. I’ve decided to try a different tactic for assembly on this section and we’ll see how it goes. I’m going to try to get the sides done first. I’ll get the filmstrip and dark blue done which will complete the bottom, and then I’m going to try to do the twinklies next instead of waiting until the end. It may work out great, it may suck, but I’m gonna give it a shot.

I watched a youtube video of a group of friends putting together a section of this puzzle, and I was intrigued by the fact that they did the sides immediately instead of waiting till the end. Why not give it a shot? It may be better or it may not, but there’s really only me working on this, I can do whatever I want! *stomp* 😉

I’m so happy to be back working on the puzzle. Well, I’m happy to be working on a section that I haven’t previously completed and then dropped on the floor! Even though I’m not feeling the greatest today I’m still glad to be able to get back into the groove and get going on the second half of the puzzle. Go Team!

I REALLY need to decide what I’m going to do with this giant puzzle! I’m leaning towards donating it to the children’s wing of our local hospital. Of course I’d actually have to find out if it is even something they would want or even have a place for. I’ve got about 3 months before I’m finished, so I’d better get a move on and find out!

Tuesday 12-27-16 50% Done!

20,160 pieces assembled – 20,160 to go!

It’s finished! For the second time! Hooray!! I guess that means once I’m all done I will have completed a 40,320 piece puzzle, but will have assembled 44,352 pieces. 😮 (This is assuming I will NOT be idiotic enough to drop another puzzle)

I completed it in 7 days this time because I totally cheated. I had the picture I had taken of the completed puzzle on my computer and I just zoomed in (THANK GOD FOR DIGITAL PHOTOS) and then I knew what pieces I was looking for. I have to say it wasn’t nearly as satisfying as actually working the puzzle, it felt a little like paint by numbers. But I wasn’t looking for fun or satisfying – I just wanted it finished!

So I am now officially halfway done with the world’s largest jigsaw puzzle! I’m really proud of myself!

Up next, The Little Mermaid. There is a LOT of blue, but the colors are bright and there are several characters to break up the monotony of water and trees. This one will be fun too! I’m very much looking forward to going back to my routine – taking my time, enjoying the assembly and not working frantically like a bunny to finish it. I’m not sure how long it will take me to sort, so perhaps tomorrow or Thursday I’ll be back to daily updates.

🙂 I’m halfway done, Mowgli and friends are safely stored with the other 4 sections and taped up tight under my bed!  WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

You Won’t Believe It

Right here is where I would tell you how many pieces are complete and how many are left to go.  Not going to happen this time.  I have proof that I completed this section, which is good, because while trying to take a better picture IT FELL OFF THE BOARD!!! 😮 😡 😮

The fabric on my board keeps everything in place.  So much so that my husband and I can take the board and hold it almost vertical while walking it into another room, doesn’t slip the least little bit. So I finished, and was trying to prop up the board to get a better angle for a picture without so much glare and bumped it just a little – and it’s all gone. I feel like a complete and total idiot. I am a complete and total idiot. For about 5 minutes today I was halfway done with the world’s largest puzzle. 5 whole minutes.

I know, it’s just a puzzle. It’s not the end of the world. No one was hurt. It can be re-done. I know all those things in my head, but I just want to cry. While trying to find all the pieces and picking them up I was thinking that I am not going to do this one again right away. It’s too upsetting at the moment. I don’t even want to look at these puzzle pieces right now. Then of course practicality reared it’s ugly little head and said “If you don’t do it again right away, you are taking a chance of losing pieces.” If I didn’t find them all, and one got vacuumed up or chewed by the dog, I would be even more upset. And, by the way, almost nothing is still together.  The fit is somewhat loose, and it just all collapsed and fell apart. I have to do the entire puzzle again.

So it looks like everyone is going to be getting a break from daily updates for a while.  No one wants to hear about me doing the same section all over again. I don’t wanna hear about it either, I just have to do it. I’ll probably add posts daily about other puzzles I’ve done, there are plenty of those to choose from. But I won’t bore everyone with updates and pictures about a puzzle I’ve already completed once. Once I finish it AGAIN and am ready to start the 2nd half of the puzzle I will again write my daily updates.

I’m sure this will be a funny story later on.  MUCH later. At the moment it doesn’t seem humorous at all. Ha Ha Friggin Ha. 😐

One more day!

Got a lot more done than yesterday, and it should be only one more day!! The halfway point is within reach!

I have 2 more rows to do at the top of the puzzle, and as you can see I have to fill in the left side. Hopefully I can get all my running around Christmas stuff done in the morning so I have plenty of time to finish this section. If I can get it done tomorrow, it’ll leave me plenty of time the rest of the week to make sure all Christmas preparations are complete.

Thank goodness all presents are purchased – I can’t imagine going shopping this time of year.  I don’t even want to get groceries! Unfortunately the people who live here insist on eating food every day – rude! So, off to the grocery store I have to go. Ugh.
