Country Kitchen by Olga – Buffalo (Country Life Series) – 1000 pieces

This beautiful image was perfect for puzzling, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself! Great colors, just enough dark areas so that it wasn’t too easy, and just a lovely picture all around. I’m wishing I had a piece of that apple pie right about now too. 🥧

Excellent quality all around, as has been the usual for Buffalo puzzles that I’ve been working lately. It had a great fit, nice reproduction, very good cut – it was just pleasant to work with in pretty much every way.

All the images through the window were sharp and beautiful. Each had their own assembly challenges, but it was thoroughly engrossing.

This was one of the last sections I put together, it looks as though momma kitty is trying to get her little one out of the cupboard. I’m not really a cat person, but it’s cute.

I truly enjoyed this puzzle, it went together quickly – partly because it was pretty easy to sort; curtains, window, flowers, etc. It wasn’t overly difficult, but was just difficult enough so that it wasn’t boring.

I had a great time with this one, it was only my second image from this artist. I think she’s a cat person, but I won’t hold it against her. 😉

The Writer’s Dogs

The Writer’s Dogs – Buffalo – 750 pieces

Such a great image – it was wonderful to assemble! Of course you know I couldn’t resist the dogs, but the rest of the image was perfect for a great puzzle as well. The typewriter wasn’t as easy as you might think, and the flowers were their very own special challenge. All in all it was a charming puzzle that was challenging but entertaining.

Great Buffalo quality, of course. There were a few bent pieces but otherwise no problems at all. Excellent fit, great reproduction, good cutting, and the usual Buffalo piece shapes.

I love the detail on this painting in the background – clear as a bell!

I mean, how can you resist that face? I’m certain there are plenty of people out there who don’t care for animals, or dogs in particular – but I couldn’t resist that face. The dogs were the most difficult part of the image to assemble, fur can be quite a challenge. But saving them until the end meant I was more motivated to finish and so I kept at it.

Loved this puzzle!

New Month, New Puzzle

National Geographic Magazines – Buffalo – 500 pieces

Happy May everyone! Where in the world has the year gone? I can’t believe it’s May already; this month will be hubby’s and my 34th wedding anniversary – OMG we’re old!

Anyway, this old lady is working on this extremely cool image of National Geographic magazines. Normally photographic puzzles aren’t my thing, but there was something interesting about this one. I can’t put my finger on it, but it spoke to me when I saw it; you know how I am about giving puzzles a good home, just…can’t…resist.

There could be worse vices, puzzles aren’t that bad, so I just embrace it. It keeps this little old lady out of the bars and off the streets at night. 👵❤🧩

Krystol’s Palace

Krystol’s Palace by Ciro Marchetti – Buffalo – 750 pieces

This puzzle was unbelievably beautiful, and challenging enough to be fun and completely engaging. What’s not to love about Ciro Marchetti’s color palettes and stunning scenes?

Great Buffalo quality – pieces are slightly bigger for a 750 piece puzzle than a 1000 piece, and for me they’re the perfect size. The fit was excellent and the image reproduction was stellar. I’ve been on a bit of a Buffalo puzzles binge lately, and most of my purchases have been either Ravensburger or Buffalo; I know the quality will be good with both brands and they have a lot of images that are definitely my pile of pieces.

There’s something about the detail on this balloon, my eye is drawn to it every time I look at the image. Gorgeous!

There’s not much to say, other than the peacock’s color works wonderfully with the entire image. I’ve seen peacocks in several puzzles with Ciro Marchetti’s artwork, and they always seem to blend with the scene perfectly.

The colors are just lovely, everything fits just right. The purples/pinks, and oranges/reds of the sky, the brighter colors of the cupolas on the palace towers: it’s just a fantastic puzzle image that was completely engrossing to put together.

The Quiltmaker Lady

The Quiltmaker Lady by Charles Wysocki – Buffalo – 1000 pieces

A little more challenging than I bargained for, but still very entertaining. You know I can’t resist a puzzle with quilts! This was great fun, and a bit difficult at times – but I loved it.

This image was the most “painterly” Charles Wysocki I’ve ever done, I’m used to his puzzle images being crisp and symmetrical. This had elements of symmetry, but the entire image was fuzzier and more brush stroke-y than I’ve ever seen in his work. I’m no expert by any means, and my only exposure to his work has been in puzzle form; but I’ve done MANY a puzzle with his artwork and this is the first time it seems different in this way.

Again, great quality from Buffalo – excellent fit, nice variety of piece shapes, beautiful reproduction – overall just a wonderful puzzle to assemble.

This was my favorite of the three quilts to assemble. I didn’t use the poster image at all, just let the pieces take me where they went. I absolutely adored this section. 💛

You can see from the closeup of grama and the pups how fuzzy and indistinct some of the elements are. It was odd for a Wysocki, from my point of view anyway.

Whether it was fuzzy or crisp, it was still so entertaining to assemble – one of my favorite Wysocki images that I’ve ever done. Trick or Treat Hotel is still my favorite of all time, but I think The Quiltmaker Lady is running a close second. If this one interests you it is highly recommended, two spools of thread WAY UP! 👍🧵👍🧵
