Candylicious

Candylicious by Aimee Stewart – Buffalo (Vivid Collection) – 300 pieces

Longtime readers will remember that my favorite puzzle artist is Aimee Stewart, her use of color is stunning and her shelf puzzles have provided me with hours and hours of enjoyment. The very first time I attempted a 2000 piece puzzle it was her beautiful artwork that gave me the confidence to even give it a try. Her puzzles make me happy!

The Buffalo Vivid Collection puzzles are true to their name – the colors are so vivid! I’ve done several, and they’ve all been fabulous quality with exceptional image reproduction. They are highly recommended. Very highly.

Love all the gummy bears, especially the ones that have different colored heads! I’ve never come across any like that in the wild, have you?

That looks like the most refreshing slushy ever. With my inner child deciding to play with matches – causing serious hot flashes – this drink would be most welcome at my house. Yum!

I adore the look of these candies, for some reason that I seem unable to put into words at the moment. Suffice it to say that I simply love the artwork of Aimee Stewart and even though I don’t recall specifically this assembly, I can say with absolutely certainty that there isn’t one little bit of this image that wasn’t entertaining to assemble. She is a puzzle artist goddess and her work makes me extremely happy!

Realm of the Giants

Realm of the Giants by Silvia Christoph – Ravensburger – 200 pieces

Isn’t this a beautiful dinosaur scene? I love the colors; a lot of dinosaur puzzles are more drab, with browns, greens, etc. – this one seems to pop. The detail and colors make it lovely in my eyes.

Surprise, surprise! Not a clue how the assembly of this one went, you’re shocked right? It’s no surprise to me, as I can’t remember what I had for lunch yesterday – or if I even ate lunch at all! My memory has been steadily declining for the past few months, and I keep commenting on it to the hubby. But you’re here to see about a puzzle, not the ramblings of an old lady who can’t remember sh*t. 🤔

Anyone else reminded of Jurassic Park 2 where the little baby-looking dinosaurs attacked the little girl on the beach? Or is it just me?

Most people would look first at the T-Rex, as it’s the one dino that everyone knows and recognizes; but my eye was drawn to this “little” guy. I love the purple colors on the back, and that gorgeous fin. The colors in this image are absolutely beautiful, and it made for quite the fun assembly – I think.

I just liked the wings on this one, that’s the only reason you’ve got a close-up of them. I don’t know what the name of this species is, but I can say without doubt that I enjoy looking at their wings. 🙂

As always, Ravensburger puzzles are excellent quality. I would even go as far as to say that their kid’s puzzles are exceptional. The pieces are truly thick and sturdy and the fit is wonderful. This puzzle is still here in the house, and I took out some pieces to feel them – fantastic!

A Work In Progress…

So I finished my 500 piece puzzle yesterday, and thought that I really should put together a 1000 piece puzzle. But to be honest it kind of terrified me – it seems so very long since there was a puzzle with that many pieces on my board. I really was quite apprehensive about it, so much so that I texted my puzzle buddy Penny to get some back up! She encouraged me, and even gave me a couple of suggestions to try so it wouldn’t seem like such a big undertaking.

Does this sound ridiculous to you? It does to me, I completed a 40,000 puzzle for crying out loud! Geez lady, get a grip. Anyway, thank you so much Penny, you helped more than you know!

It seems ridiculous to say it out loud, but it looks like the last 1000 piece puzzle I put together was in July of 2020. Holy crap! It’s been 15 months since I’ve sorted or assembled a “larger” piece count, and it was truly intimidating for me to even think about even sorting it; there was much anxiety. Thank goodness for my long distance Puzzle Posse. 💗

This morning I’ve finally started sorting it (hubby had to go into work today so the board is mine for a few hours), and I’m doing just fine. No overly anxious thoughts, and it looks like it’s going to be a fun assembly once the sorting is done. If you were wondering, it’s a collage from Re-marks. Can’t wait to see how it goes, wish me luck!

The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz by W.W. Denslow – Pomegranate – 300 pieces

Pomegranate puzzles have always been, for me, excellent quality. You can even feel the quality when you pick up one of their boxes – it feels luxurious and sturdy. I love their puzzles, and they have a catalog of images that aren’t just the usual kitty cat pictures, Christmas images, landscapes, and cottages. They’ve got some unique and fun to assemble images and I love their puzzles!

I wish I could tell you about this assembly, but I honestly don’t remember assembling any of these puzzles from last August. Steel yourselves for the next few puzzles, because they will pretty much be me saying the same thing – I don’t remember. I can tell you about the quality of the brands, and what the quality looks like from the pictures, but that’s about it. My apologies.

This is not what Dorothy looks like to a troglodyte like myself who has only seen the movie and has never read the books. I’m looking for a teenager in a gingham dress. This girl looks about 6 or 7 years old! How old is Dorothy in the books? Is there someone out there more well read than me who could let us know?

And Glinda the good witch here is supposed to be much younger looking and in a pink, sparkly dress! What is happening?!

Goodie’s

Goodie’s by Janet Kruskamp – Ravensburger – 500 pieces

So, I know that I’ve completed this puzzle. I mean, here’s the proof right here, several pictures that were found on my personal cellphone. But, honestly, my addled, menopausal old lady brain swimming in several different kinds of painkillers has absolutely NO recollection of even assembling it. Seriously. I couldn’t tell you a thing about it.

I do know that it’s a Ravensburger, and from the picture I can see that the fit looks good and it seems to be the usual, excellent quality that their puzzles normally are. The colors are more pastel than I would normally care for, but I’m sure I had a good time putting it together. Janet Kruskamp is an artist whose work I admire; one of her images is one of those sentimental puzzles that reminds me of my mom every time I see it. Interested in checking it out? Click here. She’s a very talented artist. 👩‍🎨

Love the kiddos having a shake, and the schoolbook and lunchbox on the floor. So detailed!

Look at these prices! 15 cents for a sundae or a soda float, and 10 cents for a malted! I feel so old! Does anywhere even make “malts” these days? I’m feeling quite old, as if I should be yelling at the kids to get off my lawn. 👵

I wish my memory was better, because I truly cannot recall this assembly. If I didn’t have 5 years or so worth of puzzles here to be assembled already I might entertain the thought of doing it again – but I highly doubt I will. This post is already written, and there are many, many other jigsaw puzzles here calling out my name.
