I Chickened Out…

Remember this puzzle from just a few days ago? Well, it’s not on my board anymore. I chickened out – as soon as I started sorting it. The colors seemed so similar and muted and looked quite difficult; I just didn’t feel up to it.

To be honest, although the image altogether looks very interesting, when I looked at the pieces themselves it didn’t seem as though it would be that entertaining to assemble – at least not right now. Just not feeling like it’s the right puzzle for the moment.

I’ll assemble it eventually, my frame of mind just needs to be different than it is at the moment. We’ll get there someday. Hopefully.

Completely understandable. A big ol’ pile of puzzles pieces can be intimidating, regardless of your mindset. Don’t feel pressured to puzzle. I’m sure you have plenty of posts in queue waiting to be published and, if not, your blog readers (myself included) will understand and be patient.

You’ve mentioned you keep all your wooden jigsaw puzzles. Maybe pull out some low piece count puzzles by Wentworth, the kind you’ve referred to before as ‘cup of coffee’ puzzles. Maybe something small and sweet will help lift your spirits and help get your puzzle mojo back.

I spilled out pieces for this lovely yesterday… it’s one of my favorite puzzle images but it’s intimidating me a little bit! I think because I’ve done so many collage puzzles lately that my brain is trying to figure out how to do a more scenic/staged/landscape/moment-in-time (can’t think of the right word) kind of puzzle.

I’ve done the Great American Novels puzzle — hubby gifted it to me at least a few years back. It’s an older Re-marks puzzle so hopefully the pieces won’t be on the new chipboard you reported them using and that you aren’t crazy about. Although I have no idea how often puzzle companies manufacture specific puzzles so I suppose it would be possible to get this puzzle older image with the new chipboard…. Just like with my Rainy Days Umbrella puzzle, older image but might could have the new chipboard….

Speaking of Re-marks, I emailed them a couple of days ago to ask a question, no reply yet 😦 Hopefully I’ll hear from them next week.

I actually got an email from them yesterday afternoon — on a Saturday, impressive! I was inquiring about a charming Christmas puzzle they released last year and asking if they were going to release it again this year.

I also asked about their website as I can’t access it. It seems like they took it down (?????) and are going to relaunch it soon with an online shop so consumers can purchase puzzles directly from them. (It’s a bit odd that their website is completely inaccessible, no?)

P.S. Do you get the Buffalo Games newsletter? They have a couple of pages of brand-new puzzle releases! I’m obsessed crushing hard on one of the Charles Wyscocki images!

Well, and I know this is probably bad to say, but I would never order puzzles directly from Buffalo as I can find their puzzles for less elsewhere, like at Target or Walmart, and not have to pay for shipping either. Of course, I’m not always guaranteed to find the exact image I’m looking for — hence the recent Amazon puzzle order.

Buffalo actually has more than a couple of pages of new releases, but much to my surprise, there’s only that one Charles Wysocki puzzle I’m crushing on. It’s already out of stock! I signed up to be notified when it’s back, more out of curiosity as to how long it takes Buffalo to re-stock new puzzles.

Winter scenes aren’t usually my thing either and, admittedly, while I swoon for this particular Wysocki image I don’t love all his images because sometimes they just seem to blur together, and not look all that unique, you know? But I am smitten that this scene is at night time and all those lit up shop windows and so many people and activities and details to notice. I can tell this would be a challenging puzzle to put together since it’s a bit more muted rather than bright in color. Eventually I would like to acquire it, I’m in no rush. I won’t be buying it direct from Buffalo.

It’s a 1000 piece puzzle — which is fine by me. I’m not sure if I would want this puzzle in a lesser piece count, maybe 500 but it seems very seldom that Buffalo releases Wysocki images as 500 piece count puzzles. It seems Buffalo usually only releases Wysocki puzzles in 300 or 1000 piece count puzzles, with the exception being his cat puzzles that seem always to be 750 pieces and then sometimes those become 300 piece count releases.

Once Buffalo released a charming Wysocki puzzle in 300 piece count and I contacted them to see if it would be released as a 1000 piece count puzzle and they replied back likely not. And I kept up with the image for a bit and I don’t think they ever did release that image as a 1000 piece puzzle.
