Squish Summer

Squish Summer – Buffalo (Foil) – 300 pieces

*This puzzle was completed in 2024, and I honestly have NO memory of it at all. Luckily I did write a bit about it back then, so at least this is accurate. Perhaps it’s ridiculous to post a puzzle that was done so long ago, but I figure it’ll help get me back in the swing of things, so to speak.*

After putting together all of the pieces with color I was left with approximately 40 pieces that were basically all silver. There are “blue” blocks in the water, but under artificial light they all just looked completely silver with the reflected light so it was difficult for these old eyes to see the patterns.

I ended up having to separate by shape and use brute force to finish the last few pieces. Luckily I’ve been doing puzzles for a while and am good at seeing the shape I’m looking for when brute force is called for – so it didn’t take as long as it might have otherwise.

Two of the cutest little squishmallows, in my opinion.

Excellent quality all around, but I’ve learned my lesson and have decided I really really don’t care for foil puzzles and will NOT be getting another. Still, the fit was good enough for my favorite puzzle picture….

Enjoy your squish summer everyone, it should be coming up soon!

Creatures of the Cosmos

Creatures of the Cosmos by Sarah Walsh – Mudpuppy – 500 pieces

This puzzle was more enjoyable than I anticipated, and the pleasant surprise of having more than one piece shape was fantastic. Easy to sort, relatively easy to assemble, this one was lots of fun!

My daughter insisted I buy this one, and to be honest I wanted nothing to do with a Mudpuppy puzzle, but I couldn’t refuse my baby girl. Good thing too, because other than the “sharp” white backing I thought the quality of this puzzle was very good. My last Mudpuppy puzzle (a birthday gift) was good quality as well, but still had just the one piece shape; the fact that this one had a variety of shapes made me quite happy. Perhaps the fact that it had foil accents had something to do with the difference in pieces.

The stars in the constellations and the lines that connect them were all foil accents in this image. It’s hard to capture in a closeup picture, but it wasn’t difficult to work with at all.

Creatures of the Cosmos was enjoyable to assemble, and happily I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would! 🌟

Creatures of the Cosmos In Progress…

Creatures of the Cosmos by Sarah Walsh – Mudpuppy – 500 pieces

Unfortunately I haven’t been feeling well the past few days, so the puzzling going on here has been minimal. It’s taken two days to get this far on a 500 piece puzzle, definitely not normal for me.

This is one of the puzzles we got when my daughter and I went shopping a couple of weeks ago; she really wanted me to buy it, so of course I did. I wasn’t looking forward to assembling it to be honest; it’s a Mudpuppy, and their lack of variety in piece shape and sharp backing don’t make for great puzzling in my opinion. But – wonder of wonders – there are different piece shapes! Is this something new?

I will say this though…that border was a b*tch! 🤬
