Sketches – Ravensburger – 1000 pieces

This adorable puzzle went together amazingly quickly, and it was exactly the right amount of challenge. I absolutely adored it! Unfortunately a piece was missing, but it didn’t detract from my enjoyment at all.

The quality was excellent; and the piece shapes aren’t quite as obvious as they were in the last Ravensburger I assembled. I really adore cartoon puzzles, and this image had enough cartoon elements that it ticked all the boxes for me. Ravensburger puzzles are such great quality that I never hesitate buying them secondhand from the thrift stores. Even if they’ve been assembled several times they hold up quite well. This was a thrift store puzzle that mom bought for us, she always found such wonderful puzzles at the best prices. 💖

Each of the sketches correspond with the pictures from the finished film beside it, except for Sully from Monsters, Inc.

Sketches 1

Sully’s sketch was mean and scary looking, but the image from the film is him being frightened (not frightening at all) and offering a teddy bear to Boo – so cute!

All of the Pixar movies shown are ones that I’ve seen and watched with my children; I think that’s another reason I enjoyed the assembly so much, it brought back wonderful memories of spending time with my kids when they were younger.

We would all pile into the car and get ourselves to the store when the VHS or DVDs of the movies were released. With three young children at home we didn’t bother with renting them from Blockbuster or a local video store, we always bought them.* And the rule was that we always watched them for the first time together, I loved watching the kids be enchanted by the story and images; the time we spent together when they were young was time well spent and provides me with wonderful memories to this day.

*For all you young’uns, people used to have to go to the store to rent or buy movies if they wanted to watch them at home. There was no Netflix, Hulu, or any other streaming service. You couldn’t watch movies on your smart phone either – there were no such things!

Toy Story

Toy Story – Ceaco – 700 pieces

This one went quickly, but for some reason it wasn’t as enjoyable as I’d hoped – or it could be that it was my state of mind and had nothing at all to do with the puzzle itself. Sometimes I just can’t tell.

Toy Story 1

Buzz was the most fun to assemble for me, but he was a bit of a challenge. I assembled him first.

Toy Story 2

I love Woody’s face, he always seems so surprised and happy. Those legs are so skinny though, how do they hold him up?

Pop Art Princess

Pop Art Princess – Ceaco – 700 pieces

This image was a blast to assemble, and I completed it in one day. It was many little sessions put together; but I couldn’t keep myself away from it. It was too much fun!

Pop Art Princess 1

This was the first section that I put together, both Ariel and the words “Your Voice”. Almost every part of this puzzle was not too hard and not too easy either – it was just right.

Pop Art Princess 2

Besides Snow White’s face, this whole section of the puzzle was the most difficult. The old hag’s face was pretty challenging, as was the word “Snow”. It was the last bit to be assembled, but I still had a great time and reveled in the assembly. So entertaining!

Monsters

Monsters – Ceaco – 700 pieces

I enjoyed this more than I expected to. I haven’t done a cartoon puzzle in a while and I forgot how much fun I find them. The bright colors make me very happy, and the easier sorting is a bonus as well.

Monsters 1

I started with Mike, the green was easy to find and I loved the character too. Every time I look at it I hear Boo yelling “Mike Wazowski!” in the movie. So cute!

Monsters 2

There were an abundance of eyes, and I worked on them next. So many eyes! This puzzle was completely absorbing and entertaining, it reminded me how much I like cartoony puzzles. I bought this one on the insistence of my daughter, it seems she knows better than I do what puzzles I would enjoy – I should take her shopping with me every time. 😉

Dapper Dandies

Dapper Dandies
Dapper Dandies by Amy Lynn – Mega Puzzles – 300 pieces

Dapper Dandies was the first of my Facebook Marketplace purchases that I assembled, and what fun! I love the artwork by Amy Lynn, and it made for an excellent and entertaining assembly. 🙂

I find Mega Puzzles to be hit or miss, sometimes the quality is much better than expected and sometimes not so much. The fit was fine on this one but the chipboard was on the thin side and it definitely didn’t lay flat.

Dapper Dandies 1

Still, if we’re discussing the puzzling itself I enjoyed this one very much. It gave me a bit more challenge than I would have thought, but I find the challenging ones are pretty darn fun too! Looking at the finished image I’m surprised that it was as difficult for me as it was, but I can’t only blame the puzzle. I was recovering from a long trip and on pain medication; that sometimes slows down my brain function, which slows down the assembly. 😉
