Got the twinkly sides done. Working only on the sides made it so that I was able to take a small part of the puzzle in my bed on a tray and work on it that way instead of having to sit in a chair or stand at the puzzle table. Once I was out of room on the tray I could bring it in the puzzle room, attach most of it, and then continue working. It’s nice when I’m not feeling well enough to sit or stand, but quite the challenge when 3 dogs are vying for attention. There was some initial interest in messing with the pieces, but they were content to just lay with me after a while. Good pups!

Not sure how much I’ll be able to do tomorrow. I have an appointment in the afternoon, and it’s an hour and a half away. Ugh. Driving or riding in a car isn’t fun for me either. I’ll try to work on it in the morning before we leave, but I’m not sure how I’ll feel after 3 hours in the car. If only the puzzle were portable! 🙂

Anyway, even with the appointment I’m hoping I’ll be able to mostly finish with the twinklies tomorrow. It looks so much better when it has a frame around it, just my opinion of course. Then I guess I’ll work on Mickey. I know I don’t have all the pieces pulled though; the white of his gloves and the blue of his hat didn’t really stand out much from the other white and blue in the puzzle (at least not the first time though).  I know I have some, but definitely not all. It’ll be interesting to see how much I’ll be able to assemble!

It doesn’t look like much, but that is almost 700 pieces done! It really doesn’t look that impressive at all, does it? Oh well.

I wasn’t able to work on the puzzle much today, I’m puppy-sitting my daughter’s two dogs and they were quite adamant about me spending time with them instead of the puzzle. They were looking for snuggles and play time and lovin’, not me having quiet time with my hobby. That’s alright though, I’m enjoying my grandpuppies staying with us.

More work on the twinklies tomorrow, if I’m allowed. 😉

Fantasia has begun! The filmstrip is done and I had a great time doing it. Tomorrow I’ll work on the top edge and the dark blue and if I’m feeling well enough I might even start on the twinklies.

I was talking to my mom yesterday and I think either this section is going to take me a while or I’m going to get it done really fast because I just want to get it over with. I’m not sure which one it’s going to be yet, but I guess we’ll see soon enough. I could tell while sorting the pieces that this one was gonna be a little tougher than any of the other ones so far. The number of containers needed for sorting was much smaller than any of the previous sections, and there is much less color.

But just think how proud I’ll be once I finish this section! It won’t be the hardest puzzle I’ve ever done, but it’ll be up there in the top 5!

Wednesday 01-11-17 60%Done!

24,192 pieces assembled – 16,128 to go!

60% finished, and I must say I am enjoying this enormous puzzle a lot more than I thought I would. Even with me being a moron and dropping a section, still loving this puzzle and the assembly.

This section took me 14 days to complete.  Not bad.  I wasn’t rushing, just enjoyed myself. I did spend too much time working on it yesterday, but that was because I knew how close I was to the end, and it gets me all riled up! 😉

I’m not feeling great today, so I won’t be moving it off the board until tomorrow. I’m sure we’ll be able to put it on it’s cardboard bed safely, but I won’t feel better until it’s done.

I’m loving the way this section in particular looks; the colors, the fireflies, everything just works together and I think it looks amazing. I know no one really cares that much except for me, but it looks great and I’m proud and I can’t wait to get going on the next section!

Up next, Fantasia. You can see why I think it’s going to be the hardest section. Only 1 character, Mickey. The rest is just twinklies, white foam, blues, browns and black. If it were a smaller puzzle, it would still be difficult, but being over 4000 pieces you can imagine just how many pieces are extremely similar in color and shape. Yikes!

Also, I have to say I’m a teeny bit disappointed in the filmstrip for this one. You can’t tell from the picture, but almost every cell is from The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Fantasia had so many great parts to it, why not include some of them? The dance of the hours, with the ballerina ostriches, elephants, hippopotamuses and alligators.  Night on Bald Mountain with the devil and evil spirits, who are all sent back to hell when dawn comes and you hear the Ave Maria. Or the Pastoral Symphony with the centaurs and “centaurettes” and cupids and Zeus. So many great scenes to choose from, why not at least put some of them in the filmstrip? Just my personal opinion of course.

Anyway – onward to Fantasia!!! 🙂

According to my piece count I only have 332 pieces to go! I may be able to finish it tomorrow, if maybe hubby or mom lends a hand. Or maybe if it’s a rough night and I can’t get comfortable I’ll be up till the wee hours trying to finish it myself.

Can’t believe I’m almost finished with 6 out of 10 sections! 😮 I’ve gone slightly insane and I’m loving it!
