Super Models – Wasgij Destiny #9

Wasgij Destiny #9 Super Models by Graham Thompson – Jumbo – 1000 pieces

I can’t show you the whole finished puzzle, it’ll spoil it! The Wasgij puzzles are some of my favorites. They feel amazing, fit together wonderfully, and the mystery of figuring out what the puzzle will look like just adds to the fun!

On the box are beautiful ladies modeling swimsuits, and the finished puzzle is how they’ll look about 50 years in the future. I knew this image was going to be humorous and I couldn’t wait to put it together. I loved it! It’s so much fun to get to the end and see all the little jokes in both the foreground and background.  The Jumbo quality is awesome and the puzzle feels lovely to run your hands over (which I always do). 🙂

I can’t recommend Wasgij and Jumbo puzzles enough.  The quality is superior! I have a 5 foot tall stack of new ones waiting to be done in my closet. I went a little crazy. 😉

Pencil Collage

Pencil Collage by Maureen Rupprecht – White Mountain Puzzles – 1000 pieces

This White Mountain fit together so tightly it could be stood on end!  So of course, I had to take the picture that way, and with the way the pencils are laid out in the puzzle it makes an awesome picture!

We ordered this puzzle and I put off working on it for a while because it was on the “challenging puzzles” page of the White Mountain website and I needed to be in the right mood to do it.  I did not find it to be that difficult actually, and really enjoyed the entire assembly. The image was crisp and all the printing on the pencils was easy to read. There were some funny sayings on some pencils and some very interesting ads as well.  Super fun puzzle for me – especially because I always love to have words to assemble AND it’s a collage.  Bonus!

Don’t be frightened away from challenging puzzles, sometimes the challenge is just what you need and sometimes it isn’t as difficult as you think it will be.

More Colorful Egg Pattern Favorites To Go For

More Colorful Egg Pattern Favorites To Go For by Gregory L. Blackstock – Pomegranate – 1000 pieces

When I first saw this puzzle I thought, “That’s kinda cool”.  Then I read the little blurb about the artist and I had to own it.  Gregory L. Blackstock is an autistic artist who defines the world around him by identifying, ordering and arranging things.  His artwork helps him find a sense of order in a chaotic world.

I have two children with autism, and completely understand his need for order and an outlet for the stress of dealing with people and things that are confusing or upsetting.  In addition to being excited to get a jigsaw with artwork by a person with autism, it’s a fabulous fun puzzle that is hard to walk away from. Once you pull pieces for an egg and assemble them, it leads to pieces of another one, and so on and so on.

The Pomegranate quality is exceptional, their boxes AND puzzle pieces feel amazing. The pieces are thick and sturdy and soft feeling at the same time. The box feels just as great and is the sturdiest box I’ve ever seen for a puzzle.  The fit is quite good and the image reproduction is as well. LOVED this puzzle! Pomegranate puzzles have exceptional quality and I would recommend them to anyone!

What If #1 The Lost Lottery Ticket

img_2021
What If #1 The Lost Lottery Ticket by Geoff Tristam – Ravensburger – 1000 pieces

Here’s another puzzle I won’t show the whole picture of. Like the Wasgij, the image on the box isn’t what you puzzle, you have to figure out what would happen if…..

For this one, the cover of the box shows what our hero wants to happen when he buys a lottery ticket. The puzzle itself shows what if his ticket was the winner, but he lost it. I absolutely love the art of Geoff Tristam. It’s a fun cartoon puzzle, which I enjoy doing very much. It’s from Ravensburger, so we know the quality is amazing.

After doing the Wasgij, I decided I wanted to try the Ravensburger equivalent – What If. Absolutely loved it. Love that they are cartoon puzzles, love the artist, love the challenge of not having an image to work from, always love the Ravensburger quality – just LOVE it!

Uh, I now own all 16 What If puzzles. I clearly have an addictive personality!!! Perhaps I should stay off the internet because it always leads to looking for more puzzles to try, buy, and stock up on. 😮

Buy A Ticket See 90 Movies

Buy a Ticket See 90 Movies by Adrian Chesterman – Sunsout – 1000 pieces

I love all the visual puns in this image, and it was fun to see how many movies we could name. We didn’t get them all, but we got a lot! To Kill A Mockingbird in the lower right corner was so literal it made me laugh!

The quality of this puzzle was adequate I would say. I’m not a fan of the super tight fit and having to really push the pieces together to assemble them. To me, it feels as if the pieces shouldn’t be together if I have to force them and I’m constantly double checking to see if I’ve chosen the proper one. I prefer a fit where they click together and you’ll know that it fits without having to work at it too much (Ravensburger, Jumbo, Schmidt, Pomegranate)

FYI if you plan on getting this puzzle and you’re looking for the guide to see the names of all the movies, the website listed on the box no longer has the key.  If you email Sunsout they will send you the list.
