Went Shopping!

My daughter and I went shopping on Sunday, and while wandering around the store we found these two books – each with nine 96 piece puzzles inside – and even better, they were only $2.99 each!

I looked through the books and realized that even though the pieces are extremely thin (almost like cardstock) I didn’t care. The fit seems to be quite good, so even if they’re thin it shouldn’t be too difficult to assemble each one. Plus, the images on the puzzles are interesting, beautiful, and look like they would be fun to put together.

And who doesn’t smile when they think of Bob Ross? I actually used to sit and watch his show when I was younger, and was amazed at how quickly he could put together a stunningly beautiful image. He made it look so easy! And I was a rambunctious, always-on-the-go kind of kid; there was something special about the man himself, something that made hyper little me (who was usually only interested in the fast paced commercials rather than the actual programs) sit down and just watch a man paint.

So on those days when I’m wanting to puzzle but feeling like a 500 or 1000 piece puzzle is too much, I can take a little 96 piece puzzle out of one of these books and put it together. They are “one coffee” puzzles that are larger than what I usually assemble, and it looks like they’ll be lots of fun.

I’m not ashamed to tell you I was almost giddy when we found these. Basically I got eighteen 96 piece puzzles for less than $6.00; you can’t beat that, even if they aren’t premium quality pieces.

Doesn’t matter, I’m still pleased as punch to have found them, and just looking at them puts a great big smile on my face. 😎

Nothing

I’ve got nothing on the board right now guys, it has been a terrible week for me and I am not handling it well at all. I’m doing my best, but that’s all I can do. I’m struggling.

My youngest has picked out my next puzzle, but it’s still in the box. I hope to have an actual in progress post for you in a few days, but as of now there’s nothing. Sorry.

Shopping Trip

I had to leave the house yesterday, and found myself at the bookstore looking at jigsaw puzzles, I even ended up buying a few – who woulda thunk it???

Before leaving home I was sorting my next puzzle, but now that I’ve got these new ones the one I was preparing to assemble seems so boring! Plus, if I get Frankenstein and the horror books done quickly they can be posted this month for Halloween.🎃

Interestingly, after my jaunt to the store I now have a shopping tip for you, if you shop in person. The World of Frankenstein is a Laurence King brand puzzle, and if I were you and wanted good quality I would only purchase this brand if you can be sure where it was manufactured.

In the store today there were plenty of puzzles by this brand, including The World of Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, etc. – but they were all manufactured in China. The World of Frankenstein was one of only two images by this brand in the store today that was manufactured in the Netherlands. There is a big difference in quality between the two, and after seeing the difference in person and talking with a fellow puzzle blogger in Europe about this brand I wouldn’t purchase a Laurence King puzzle if it was made in China. If you’re spending your hard-earned puzzle budget on a new LK puzzle, please be certain where it was manufactured.

I’ve never recommended a brand specifically depending on where it was made, but there’s a first time for everything. So, if you find a Laurence King puzzle that was manufactured in the Netherlands I highly recommend them. I just completed one of their puzzles and it was excellent quality (I adored it!). If you find the same brand but it was made in China, be wary. Just a friendly suggestion of course. 😊

Anyway, now that these three puzzles are sitting on my board, my fickle menopausal brain (currently being slowly boiled from the inside by hot flashes) has decided that I’m going to assemble the horror books collage. I haven’t started it yet, but I’m very much looking forward to it!

Happy puzzling today my friends!

Nothing’s In Progress…

I finished the 300 piece puzzle on my board yesterday, and also finished up the puzzle in the bathroom – so unfortunately I’ve got no puzzles going at the moment to tell you about. Normally I would have made sure to at the very least start sorting another puzzle to post about (every third day is an “in progress” post), but it’s been a rough week and I just didn’t get around to it.

We got home from our trip on Sunday evening, and I immediately had to go to the doctor. Because of a problem with my good leg I’ve been put on bedrest for the next week and am temporarily taking a medication that makes me extremely dizzy and lightheaded (and I still have to take my pain meds with it). So even if I wasn’t ordered to stay off my feet, I would absolutely need to – because me walking around feeling dizzy is a recipe for disaster. I’m a klutz. A big one.

Anyway, yesterday was spent in bed almost all day long and I never got around to starting a new puzzle. I’ve chosen what’ll be next both on my puzzle board and in the bathroom, they just haven’t even been taken out of their packages yet. And there are still eight puzzles to write posts for that were assembled on our trip or since we’ve been home; there’s plenty of puzzle stuff to keep me busy, that’s for sure.

Regardless, I will definitely get a puzzle going today. Hubby has to be away during the day this weekend, and I’ll be able to sneak off to the puzzle room if I’m feeling well enough. And if I’m not – there are plenty of trays here and if need be I can start sorting and/or working on the next puzzle in bed! 🧩🛌
