Progress! Filmstrip is complete except for 2 missing pieces that I obviously didn’t sort correctly.

I had a rough time getting started yesterday, but it seems to be moving along more quickly today. It’s so nice to be actually assembling the puzzle pieces and not just “painting by numbers” like I did on The Jungle Book the second time.

Tomorrow starts my experiment with doing the twinklies at the beginning instead of the very last. I should know soon enough if it’s going to be a yea or a nay, stay tuned to find out! I’m sure no one will be able to sleep tonight, waiting and wondering 😉

I wasn’t feeling the best today, very tired and hurting, and it just wasn’t a good day overall. Although I was very happy to be able to spend a little time on the new section. It has begun!

It doesn’t look like much but that’s over 200 pieces put together, which is amazing because I wasn’t able to spend much time at all working on it. I’ve decided to try a different tactic for assembly on this section and we’ll see how it goes. I’m going to try to get the sides done first. I’ll get the filmstrip and dark blue done which will complete the bottom, and then I’m going to try to do the twinklies next instead of waiting until the end. It may work out great, it may suck, but I’m gonna give it a shot.

I watched a youtube video of a group of friends putting together a section of this puzzle, and I was intrigued by the fact that they did the sides immediately instead of waiting till the end. Why not give it a shot? It may be better or it may not, but there’s really only me working on this, I can do whatever I want! *stomp* 😉

I’m so happy to be back working on the puzzle. Well, I’m happy to be working on a section that I haven’t previously completed and then dropped on the floor! Even though I’m not feeling the greatest today I’m still glad to be able to get back into the groove and get going on the second half of the puzzle. Go Team!

I REALLY need to decide what I’m going to do with this giant puzzle! I’m leaning towards donating it to the children’s wing of our local hospital. Of course I’d actually have to find out if it is even something they would want or even have a place for. I’ve got about 3 months before I’m finished, so I’d better get a move on and find out!

Coca Cola

Coca Cola – Aquarius – 1000 pieces

Another gift, this one from my mom. Thanks mom!!

This was an easy to medium assembly, and fun to look at older ads from Coke. My dad has been a Coca Cola man all his life so there’s always been Coke in the house. It sorta reminded me of my childhood.

Aquarius is a puzzle company I hadn’t heard of or assembled before.  Pretty good quality if you ask me. Sturdy pieces, excellent image quality, really nice fit. Aquarius has some cool puzzles to choose from, I may be ordering more once I get this 40,000 piece monkey off my back. 🙂

Tuesday 12-27-16 50% Done!

20,160 pieces assembled – 20,160 to go!

It’s finished! For the second time! Hooray!! I guess that means once I’m all done I will have completed a 40,320 piece puzzle, but will have assembled 44,352 pieces. 😮 (This is assuming I will NOT be idiotic enough to drop another puzzle)

I completed it in 7 days this time because I totally cheated. I had the picture I had taken of the completed puzzle on my computer and I just zoomed in (THANK GOD FOR DIGITAL PHOTOS) and then I knew what pieces I was looking for. I have to say it wasn’t nearly as satisfying as actually working the puzzle, it felt a little like paint by numbers. But I wasn’t looking for fun or satisfying – I just wanted it finished!

So I am now officially halfway done with the world’s largest jigsaw puzzle! I’m really proud of myself!

Up next, The Little Mermaid. There is a LOT of blue, but the colors are bright and there are several characters to break up the monotony of water and trees. This one will be fun too! I’m very much looking forward to going back to my routine – taking my time, enjoying the assembly and not working frantically like a bunny to finish it. I’m not sure how long it will take me to sort, so perhaps tomorrow or Thursday I’ll be back to daily updates.

🙂 I’m halfway done, Mowgli and friends are safely stored with the other 4 sections and taped up tight under my bed!  WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

Ethel The Gourmet

Ethel the Gourmet by Charles Wysocki – Buffalo Games – 750 pieces

I enjoy Charles Wysocki’s puzzles and this one was no different. He has such a great sense of humor with the cat puzzles! I enjoy his Americana puzzles as well, there’s something about the symmetry and lines and colors that is just calming and beautiful.

The Buffalo puzzles fit together really well, and I always enjoy their special zig zag pieces. It’s nice to have interesting piece shapes every now and then. Buffalo as usually comes with a poster, which is quite nice when there are two people working – one can use the box and the other gets the poster.

I’m not sure why but hubby helped with almost all of this puzzle, he really seemed to enjoy it.  Odd, because he is definitely NOT a cat person and he usually only helps near the end of puzzles. But he and I enjoyed working on this one, and it was a pleasure to put together!
