I tried a 1000 piece puzzle just before this one. It was on my board for the entire week, I barely made any progress at all, and ended up putting it back in the box. I said out loud “This isn’t fun for me at all”, but to be honest I think I was more upset that I couldn’t work on it much. Normally it takes me 2 or 3 days to complete a 1000 piece puzzle, and I’ve been known to do an entire one in just one day if I’m really enjoying it. It’s a little depressing for me at the moment to have been working on one for more than 5 days and barely have more than 200 pieces of it together. So I decided to go back to the smaller ones and hope to try again on a 500 or 1000 piece soon.
Hubby helped me work on this one. We spent most of the day in bed and he helped me finish this; it was nice to work on a puzzle with him again, it’s been a while since he’s had the time. 💕
I really had a good time with this puzzle. I enjoy the Wysocki’s that are a little bit different; especially ones that have only one building. I find them a little more interesting and entertaining; sometimes the “regular” ones all seem to blend together and look the same. Just my opinion of course.
The color palette here is a little muted, but it still made for a pretty picture and an enjoyable assembly. The quality of the puzzle was very good as well, with thick pieces and interesting shapes – really nice all around puzzle. This is one of the batch we got from a friend, and she does her puzzles many, many times before she gets rid of them. The masking tape with dates on the box tells me she and her husband assembled this puzzle at least once every year since 2010; and there was not one piece with image lift or any damage at all! This is an exceptionally well made puzzle, and if you come across one I would definitely recommend giving it a go. 🙂

I like Wysocki puzzles too from time to time but also agree that a lot of his images with lots of buildings (and horse & buggies) do sorta end up looking the same after awhile. The image above is really pretty — it looks like a perfect weather day. There is a (retired???) Wysocki puzzle image I stumbled upon online somewhere, can’t remember the title 😦 maybe it was Boston themed??? or land and sea themed??? but the image was quite striking and unusual looking with lots of orange, yellow, and blue.

I knows, it’s driving me bonkers that I can’t remember the title of the puzzle! Definitely lots of orange, yellow, and blue, it was a very limited color palette. I thinking now there were a lot of ships???? Sigh.

I know you’re not loosing any sleep over this 😉 but I *think* I found it via a google image search. It’s called “The Cambridge.” Buffalo Games also has the puzzle as a 2000 piece puzzle.
Actually, I don’t think the above image is the one I’m thinking of but the color palette is mostly right. Maybe Wysocki did another image for a puzzle that also had a lot of blues, greens, oranges, and browns. (But I just looked through 4 pages of Wyscoki images on the Buffalo site and didn’t see anything that would have been *the* image. Sigh. Maybe it is “The Cambridge.”)

P.S. I know you are still recouperating but I’m curious as to if you contacted Wentworth about the Xmas whismies in the Asian themed puzzle and if so what did they say?

I did. I posted the answer in the comments of that puzzle, but I’ll tell you here too. The Fuyune puzzle was part of their 2016 Christmas release, hence the Christmas themed whimsies. 🙂

I get that the puzzle was part of their Xmas release but it still seems super duper odd about the Xmas whimsies in that puzzle. Having Asian themed whimsies would have just been more appropriate and special for that image.
And yes, it is bugging me that I can’t recall the name of that Wysocki image but, at this point, I’m pretty sure that the Wyscoki image above must be it. The color palette is familiar as it the rocky shore. I remember that it seemed so different (yet still with that signature Wyscoki “look”) from his other images. I like it because the color palette is a bit unusual but it’s not one that I would go out of my way to buy. I can appreciate his artistic talent but a lot of his Americana images just end up looking the same to me.
